Brilliant Uncirculated BU $32,000.00 - or nearly so. Deep multicolor toning on both sides gives this coin a distinguished appearance. The strike is decent and the fields are quite attractive for the grade. When the Mint resumed Quarter coinage they changed the reverse design from the original design they used previously in 1796. The Mint only produced 6,738 pieces of this year since silver deposits from which to make coins were...  more 1726 1807 Br.1a (R-3). Imperfect Curl, 5 over Arrow Feathers. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $5,800.00 This obverse shows the outermost curl on Liberty's shoulder imperfectly struck, leaving star 1 seemingly farther from the curl than the normal Br.1. This distinctive reverse shows the top of the '5' overlying the arrow feathers. A fantastic strike is enhanced by pervasive lavender and subtle rose of great delicacy on wonderfully smooth and virtually mark-free surfaces. Only two examples...  more 1727 1807 Br.2 (R-3). Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $8,500.00 Light gold toning on the obverse, the reverse mostly untoned and satiny. Well struck with even the most intricate part of the design fully struck. There is some weakness though on the reeding which is normal for these early issues. A really attractive example for the collector of Early American coins. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $4,000.00 A warm blend of deep rose and iridescent blue toning over nicely struck surfaces. Die state V as listed in Browning with the die crack from the rim through 'U' and the base of 'NITE' and then up through the 'D' toward the rim. This die state is listed as very rare by Breen in the Browning update. A very likable coin in most respects and a coin that should garner high collector interest. 1729 1825/4 Br.3 CH AU $2,250.00 Choice About Uncirculated. Beautiful rainbow tones frame both the obverse and reverse of this magnificent example. The central obverse is steel gray and the central reverse is a lighter shade of silver gray. The coin is well struck and there are no marks worthy of mention. This alluring coin has just a touch of cabinet friction and is nearly full Mint State. 1730 1831 Br.1. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $1,800.00 Very attractive multicolor toning over well kept surfaces. The strike is strong and gives this pretty coin added appeal. 1731 1837 Br.3. (R-4) CH AU $1,000.00 Choice About Uncirculated and virtually of Mint State quality. Lustre beneath gray and gold toning. Decently struck with no major problems visible. The JRCS Census for this variety lists one About Uncirculated and one in Mint State. This Condition Census example is certainly worth a closer inspection. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $4,400.00 Deeply frosty silver fields are framed by bold, high rims, all suffused with appealing olive-gold. The reverse shows some evidence of die rust, with an advanced die crack linking the bases of ED STATES. 1733 1849'O' F $820.00 Fine. Rose and blue toning over lightly cleaned surfaces. The strike is flat on the obverse but decent on the reverse. A very rare date with a estimated mintage of only about 16,000 pieces. 1734 1853'O' Arrows & Rays AU $325.00 About Uncirculated. Light wear on the most vulnerable high points with much silver mint frost present. Light obverse deposits. 1735 1857 Brilliant Proof BR PF $2,200.00 - on the cusp of fully Choice. Here is a delightful silver-white example showing a few light hairlines, with a perceptible die bulge atop the eagle's right wing. This was the last date before the Philadelphia Mint began selling Proofs to the public, as it did from 1858 onwards. The late Walter Breen's in-depth Proof coin research led him to conclude that ''under 15, perhaps under 12 survive.''...  more 1736 1858 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $1,800.00 - close to the Gem category. Boldly reflective surfaces and jewel-sharp reliefs are highlighted by a blush of tawny reddish-gold circling much of the rim on either side. One of 300 Proofs struck, of which far fewer survive today in such a high state of preservation. 1737 1859 Breen 4019. Type I Obverse-Type II Reverse. Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $1,300.00 This coin combines an obverse showing three parallel die lines at the left end of the rock with a reverse showing the diagnostic cabochon eye on the eagle. Bright mirror silver offers a touch of diffused gold toning with a few scattered hairlines to be found with a glass. Popular guide books show 800 Proofs struck, but the number of actual surviving Proofs is very substantially smaller. 1738 1860 Br.4024. Type II Obverse-Type I Reverse. Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $3,500.00 This glittering silver coin boasts fascinating copper-gold toning that intensifies around the crisply defined denticles. This combining of the Type II obverse with the increasingly obsolescent Type I reverse makes this a highly distinctive variety within an already rare Proof date. ''Extremely Rare'' according to Breen. 1739 1861 Brilliant Proof BR PF $750.00 - with claims to Choice. Diffuse gold around broad rims highlights deep silver mirror fields and meticulous frosted devices. 1,000 Proofs were struck, but perhaps only 400 actually left the Mint. This date, like the next four, saw curtailed business strikes, most immediately hoarded in the then-raging Civil War. 1740 1862 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $6,250.00 Splendid light green, electric blue and pleasing rose overlie immaculate silver fields and exactingly struck reliefs. Fewer than 550 Proofs were struck, making Proofs particularly elusive, nearly impossible to locate in Gem. 1741 1863 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $325.00 Flashing prooflike fields complement boldly detailed reliefs. All three arrowheads are clearly separated. 1742 1864 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $375.00 A trace of recutting is seen inside the '6' on this fully silver example of a low mintage Civil War date. Only 93,130 business strikes were produced. 1743 1865 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $3,000.00 Both base and peak on '1' are distinctly thin, traces of die rust on Liberty's form define this gleaming obverse. The reverse arrowheads appear unusually sharp and narrow. One of 500 Proofs struck in this final year of the Civil War. 1744 1866 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $2,800.00 - or virtually so. Tan-gold, orange and blue-green toning give this coin its remarkably colorful beauty. With only 16,800 business strikes produced, collector pressure has long been exerted on the 725 Proofs struck of this important date. 1745 1867 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $700.00 Stark silver devices float on the deepest mirror fields to create near-Gem beauty and perfection. Liberty's drapery folds, reverse stripes are complete. One of 625 Proofs struck. 1746 1868 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $1,900.00 Deep steel-blue toning shares this glittering coin's glass-smooth fields with subtle underlying rose of the greatest delicacy. One of 600 Proofs struck, in a scarce and sought-after date that saw only 29,400 business strikes produced. 1747 1869 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $2,400.00 - on the cusp of totally Gem. Marvelous two-tone contrast of frosty devices, glass-deep fields assures this virtual Gem of its outstanding beauty. Here is another scarce post-Civil War date boasting only 16,000 business strikes, 600 Proofs were struck. 1748 1870 Brilliant Proof BR PF $380.00 A forceful strike assures appealing detail for this boldly silver example. A glass detects some field hairlines on this example of a Proof mintage of 1,000 pieces. 1749 1871 '71' Nearly Touch. Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $1,500.00 - perhaps only a hairline from total Gem. Stark white reliefs are poised over deeply glittering mirror fields for exceptionally beautiful cameo contrast. This example of a Proof mintage of 960 is as pleasing as the most discriminating collector might desire. 1750 1872 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $700.00 Fascinating silver surfaces show a subtle hint of clearest red-gold. The left edge of the shield is crossed by a distinctive short raised die line. 1751 1873 No Arrows, Closed 3. Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $525.00 Fully silver-white, '3' is tightly constricted and the die rust dot is present in the drapery right of Liberty's wrist. This is the reverse of 1872 with its diagnostic die line crossing the left shield border. One of 600 Proofs of this variety struck. 1752 1873 With Arrows. Open 3. Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $2,400.00 Clear tawny gold occupies the sharply squared rims on this deeply gleaming virtual Gem, one of 540 Proofs struck. Here again is the distinctive reverse of 1872, identified by the crisply defined line crossing the left shield border. 1753 1874 With Arrows. Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $2,600.00 - nearly in the Gem category. Deeply iridescent electric blue and rose join for outstanding beauty on this example of 850 Proofs struck. The purity of the rose toning on Liberty give the obverse cameo distinction. ANACS Cache PF64. 1754 1874 With Arrows. Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $3,250.00 - a whisper from fully Gem. A faint golden flush enriches the deeply glittering silver of this second and last date of the Arrows at Date type. These high quality examples have always been in demand.
