Silver-white surfaces show a tantalizing hint of gold at the rims, a few light hairlines appear under a glass. One of 700 Proofs struck. 1756 1876 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $290.00 - and close to the Choice category. Smooth frosty silver is laved in delicate clear gold toning for rich visual appeal on this measurably prooflike specimen. 1757 1877 Brilliant Proof BR PF $500.00 - near-Choice in flashing silver quality. Smooth surfaces are highlighted by delicate gold deepening at the rim for bold appeal. One of 510 Proofs released. 1758 1878 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $280.00 Subtle flash underlies a flavor of delicate gold on this pleasing example of a Proof mintage of 800. This date is known to be somewhat carelessly struck, with loss of detail on the highest points. 1759 1879 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $950.00 Bold silver contrasts with rich peripheral gold. First of several lower mintage dates typifying the later Liberty Seated series with production of only 13,600 business strikes, and 1,100 Proofs. 1760 1880 Type I Reverse. Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $1,000.00 Delightfully contrasting frosty reliefs and deep mirror fields are cloaked in delicate yet tawny gold. With only 13,600 business strikes and 1,300 Proofs, this date is always in demand. The Type I reverse was characterized as ''Extremely Rare'' by Breen. 1761 1881 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $1,100.00 Here is a wholly pleasing, bright silver example with bold peripheral gold, representing an elusive date with only of 975 Proofs and 12,000 business strikes. 1762 1882 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $1,900.00 - on the cusp of fully Gem. Delicate red-gold permeates flashing silver fields and frosty devices. Here is another difficult low-mintage date with 1,100 Proofs, 15,200 business strikes. 1763 1883 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $1,500.00 - or finer. A colorful band of clearest gold circles the sharply squared rims. Another desirable low-mintage date reporting 14,400 business strikes versus 1,039 Proofs. 1764 1884 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $2,000.00 This lovely example of only 8,000 business strikes presents a delicate palette of orange-gold and remarkable blue-green toning for exceptional beauty. With its relatively tiny mintage, this date has long been the target of determined collector interest. 1765 1885 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $1,000.00 A near-Gem boasting glowing red-gold toning at the rims, accenting the quality of the glittering silver fields and frosty devices. Only 930 Proofs were struck, plus 13,600 business strikes. 1766 1886 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $400.00 - or nearly so. Squared outer rims are clad in deep gold, highlighting bold silver fields and frosty devices. Some hairlines can be found in the fields. This key date is represented by 8,000 business strikes and 886 Proofs. 1767 1887 Brilliant Proof BR PF $475.00 - nearly in the Choice category. Well struck and showing somewhat subdued flash and hints of delicate gold, a few hairlines away from higher grade. Only 710 Proofs were struck, joining 10,000 business strikes. 1768 1888 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $2,200.00 Here is a satisfying virtual Gem offering boldest cameo contrast of frosty stark white devices and brightly silvery mirror fields edged in colorful, deep gold for added beauty. 832 Proofs joined 10,001 business strikes in this late year, another decidedly elusive key to the later dates. 1769 1889 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $1,300.00 - on the cusp of Gem. Diffused red-gold covers the gleaming fields and frosted devices, all surrounded by deeper color circling the boldly squared outer rims. One of 711 Proofs, only 12,000 business strikes produced in this final decade of reduced mintages. 1770 1890 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $3,000.00 Glorious cartwheel silver flashes under the purest clear gold imaginable, deepening at the date and adding a narrow band of blue around the reverse denticles. 1771 1891 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $1,400.00 One of 600 Proofs struck for the final date of the long-lived Liberty Seated design. Virtually pure silver mirror fields join meticulous devices within high squared rims displaying delicate golden toning of great beauty. Barber Quarters Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 1772 1892 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $350.00 A beautiful first year coin with frosty lustre and magnificent rainbow toning framing most of the obverse. 1773 1892'O', 1893'S' CH AU $325.00 Choice About Uncirculated. The first coin shows signs of die rust around the date as well as an unusual die chip from the top of the '1' to the truncation of the neck. The second coin may have been wiped at some point in the past. 2 pieces. 1774 1892'S/S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $1,400.00 Fully prooflike cameo with frosty devices and watery fields. This coin is the scarce S over S variety. A hint of neon blue toning clings to much of the obverse rim. A flashy coin with a great look. 1775 1893 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $210.00 Lightly toned and free of any detracting marks. Careful examination reveals signs of die clashing in the reverse fields. 1776 1893'O' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $525.00 This well struck example is bathed in frosty mint lustre. The color is pale gray with some hints of golden gray toning. 1777 1894 Brilliant Uncirculated CH AU $400.00 - or nearly so; 1894'O' Choice About Uncirculated. Both coins are pleasing pale gray, the first with light russet toning at the upper right rim. The second coin has a few slide marks at the high points keeping it from Mint State. 2 pieces. 1778 1894'S' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $850.00 This fully struck coin shows meticulous detail. A lustrous coin with attractive light toning. 1779 1895'O' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $550.00 A well struck coin with a wisp of toning at the lower rim. 1780 1895'S' CH AU $400.00 Choice About Uncirculated, nearly Mint State. A pleasing coin with just a hint of wear at the obverse. A touch of blue and golden toning is found at the obverse. 1781 1896'O' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $4,250.00 Frosty silver-white lustre gives distinction to this delightful New Orleans strike. Specialists in this increasingly popular series will note that the 'O' mintmark is set far to the right between 'R' and 'D' on the reverse. 1782 1897 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $210.00 - near-Gem but for a solitary facial mark. Rich silver is complemented by faint gold and blue at the rims. 1783 1897'O' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $3,000.00 This glittering, satin-silver coin is Gem but for a trivial scuff on Liberty's jaw. 'O' is equidistant from 'R' and 'D.' A very rare date in this lofty grade. 1784 1898, 1900 Repunched Second '0' CH AU $400.00 Choice About Uncirculated; 1901, 1902 Strong About Uncirculated.
