1915'S' Panama-Pacific Exposition Double Set including the original frame of issue. Brilliant Uncirculated...
This remarkable set contains two coins of each denomination and/or design struck in commemoration of the Exposition. The frame that accompanies these coins is either equal or superior to that of the next set. Unlike that of the next lot, however, the reverse of this frame still retains its hanging ring. The easel, furthermore, is in somewhat better condition. It should be stated, however, that this frame lacks its original screws and there is some matting of the velvet inside...  more

A second glorious example of this all-important set. The contents, of course, are identical to the prior lot; there being two coins of each denomination and/or design type struck in commemoration of the Exposition. The frame included with these coins is in very good overall condition, there being excellent patina to the brass, and plenty of vibrance remaining in the interior velvet, ribbon, and cards. The screws, in addition, are original to the frame. The only notable...  more

This near-Gem example demonstrates the success of Aitken's skillful adaptation to an 8-sided variant of his Minerva design, one of 645 released. This dramatic shape was carefully chosen to compliment U.S. Assayer Augustus Humbert's famous $50.00 ''Slugs'' of the California Gold Rush. All corners are sharp, careful search with a glass finds a tic or two essentially invisible to the naked...  more

An absolutely glorious lustrous glow gives this tiny gold coin the beauty its designer, artist Charles Keck, had hoped to impart. The dolphins' fins and San Francisco mintmark testify to a virtually perfect strike.

1915'S' Panama-Pacific Half Dollar. Gem Brilliant Uncirculated. Columbia's face and the bouquet held...
Columbia's face and the bouquet held by the cherub show a wealth of detail that is altogether uncommon for this sought-after Silver commemorative. Frosty silver shows a fascinating counterpoint of tawny peripheral gold.
