The strike is medallic and the surfaces are nice and clean. 1619 1853'O' With Arrows and Rays CH AU $950.00 Choice About Uncirculated. Nice lustrous surfaces that have some light hairlines present. The strike is strong giving this coin decent eye appeal. A popular one-year type. 1620 1855'O' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $650.00 - on the cusp of fully Choice. Boldly reflective silver contrasts with satisfying tawny gold for pleasing contrast. The strike is outstanding for this Southern Branch Mint, making this an ideal specimen for either date or type collection. 1621 1858 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $1,500.00 Cartwheel-flashing silver surfaces are complemented by pervasive russet-gold. Liberty's upper body shows some light striking weakness as sometimes seen in this decade. 1622 1861 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $1,300.00 Deep multicolor toning over nice surfaces. The strike is bold and the lustre peaks out from beneath the toning. 1623 1861'S' CH AU $460.00 Choice About Uncirculated, on the cusp of full Mint State. Boldly lustrous silver shows a faint flavoring of clear gold. This well-spaced date includes an open '6', the reverse displays a large 'S' touching the stem above. A glass finds the slightest evidence of rub on the highest points. NGC AU58. 1624 1864 Brilliant Proof BR PF $650.00 Tawny gold surrounds the sharply defined devices, stars and legends, giving this pleasing coin its attractive overall glow. Some field hairlines appear under a glass. Proofs were among the only Silver coins seen by collectors in these times of war and hoarding of circulating coinage. 1625 1865 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $2,400.00 Splendid glittering silver fields and high squared rims show a flavor of bright tobacco-gold. Frosty devices show cameo contrast for the boldest visual appeal. One of 470 Proofs struck amid the Civil War's economic dislocation. A hairline or two are noted for accuracy. 1626 1865 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $1,500.00 Here is a dramatic Cameo Proof of outstanding visual quality. Only 500 Proofs were struck of this Civil War date, the last year before the motto IN GOD WE TRUST was added above the eagle. A splendid coin for any high quality type or date collection. 1627 1866 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $950.00 - with claims to higher grade. A wealth of peripheral old gold accompanies light gold in the mirror fields. Rich flashing Proof surface inside the reverse shield stripes testifies to a jewel-sharp strike on this example of 725 Proofs struck. 1628 1866'S' With Motto. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $1,000.00 Sharply struck, bringing out every detail of this intricate design. A hint of pale gold enhances the visual appeal. Clash mark showing a reverse image of the bottom edge of the eagle's left wing is visible on the obverse next to Liberty's left arm. 1629 1867 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $1,800.00 - on the cusp of Gem. Immaculate Cameo whose liquid-glass fields show exquisite clear gold with deeper gold and iridescent blue at the denticles creating exceptional beauty. This reverse variety is defined by the well-separated arrowheads. One of 625 Proofs struck. A splendid specimen boasting sparkling total beauty. 1630 1869 Brilliant Proof BR PF $550.00 - with claims to Choice. Wide bands of deep caramel-gold outlines the crisply defined rims, stars and legends. Glowing silver devices stand boldly out from the smooth mirror fields. Only 600 Proofs were struck. 1631 1870 Brilliant Proof BR PF $450.00 Largely silver fields and devices are framed in light gold wire rims. A glass reveals obverse field hairlines. This busy year saw 1,000 Proofs struck. 1632 1871 Brilliant Proof BR PF $425.00 '71' in date are close but do not touch on this obverse. Bright silver devices join radiant fields showing a few hairlines. One of 960 Proofs struck. 1633 1872 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $600.00 - and only a faint reverse planchet flaw from a higher grade. Frosty silver devices contrast with lightly gold-toned fields for remarkable overall appeal, a faint planchet flaw slants across the reverse. Only 950 Proofs were struck. 1634 1873 No Arrows, Closed 3. Brilliant Proof BR PF $850.00 - close to Choice. Glowing gold follows the sharply squared rims, enclosing boldly glittering fields whose radiance accentuates the beauty of the frosty reliefs. This was an unusually busy year at the Philadelphia Mint, with the No Arrows type superseded by the Arrows variety only after 600 No Arrows Proofs were produced. 1635 1873 With Arrows, Open 3. Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $2,600.00 Stark white devices, stars and legend appear to spring from the deep glass-brilliant fields. Only 500 With Arrows Proofs were struck, 100 fewer than the earlier variety, yet substantially more difficult to find than their No Arrows brethren today. These two coins' appearance in this sale offers collectors an exceptional opportunity to view and acquire lovely examples of both types. 1636 1874 With Arrows. Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $3,500.00 - on the cusp of fully Gem. Forceful mirror fields complement meticulously detailed, lightly frosted reliefs for startling beauty. Only 700 Proofs were struck of this second and last date of the short-lived Arrows type, eagerly sought by date or type collectors. 1637 1874 With Arrows. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $1,600.00 Iridescent blue and gold toning over well struck and lustrous surfaces. A few scattered marks do not overly detract. 1638 1875 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $800.00 Wonderfully rich electric blue and deep rose distinguish this colorful example of a Proof mintage of 650 pieces. Close examination identifies Breen's first variety with tiny spines from Liberty's calf. 1639 1875 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $600.00 - virtually Choice. Attractive colorful toning gives this coin its unique character. 1640 1876 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $1,400.00 This Cameo virtual Gem of the Centennial year boasts nearly flawless silver fields and precisely detailed reliefs. Although the Proof mintage of 1,520 is somewhat higher than usual for this decade, the popularity of this date has assured keen ongoing collector interest. 1641 1877 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $800.00 Silver-white devices and deep mirror fields present appealing beauty. As Breen noted, this distinctive Type II reverse variety shows no mirror surface within the reverse shield stripes. One of 580 Proofs struck. 1642 1877'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $280.00 This frosty white specimen boasts crisp detail and a pleasing overall appearance. 1643 1878 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $1,900.00 - virtually fully Gem. Shield point is between '1 8', Type II reverse shows pointed berry. The most powerful reflectivity in the fields highlights the frosty reliefs on this example of 820 Proofs produced. Here is a glittering Proof that would be exceedingly difficult to match or improve. 1644 1879 Single Drapery Line. Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $2,800.00 - with the bold eye appeal of Gem. This distinctive obverse shows only one curving, detached line of drapery under Liberty's elbow, the reverse is Type I with split berry. Electrifying blue toning enriches Liberty's form, the eagle displays rich rose on this exceptionally toned example of 620 Proofs struck. 1645 1880 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $900.00 - with strong claims to higher classification. Type II reverse, flashing silver underlies coppery-gold, rose and russet toning for exceptional visual quality. One of 1,355 Proofs struck in three varieties. 1646 1881 Type I/II Reverse. Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $1,600.00 Glittering silver fields join frosty, meticulous reliefs within a delicate halo of border gold. 975 Proofs were struck of this date's several varieties. This coin is a major rarity, presenting the rare Transitional reverse, Type I over II, or Pointed Berry over Split Berry. The recent Liberty Seated Collectors Club census of varieties reveals exactly two examples among the club's members'...  more 1647 1882 Brilliant Proof BR PF $540.00 The basic silver obverse is accented by narrow ebony outlines that surround the precisely detailed reliefs.
