Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 724 1892 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $700.00 The most powerful gleaming silver cartwheel contrasts colorfully with rich tawny gold and highlights of iridescent blue for the greatest beauty and appeal. A finer example of the first date of Engraver William Barber's new design would be hard to find. 725 1892 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $220.00 Delicate gold shares the frosty surfaces with a hint of palest blue to amplify the beauty of the basic frosty silver. 726 1892'O' Flynn RPD-002 VERY CH BU $950.00 Light repunching is most easily seen at the inside loops of the '892' in the date. Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated. The bottom loop of the 'O' is very thin, giving this New Orleans mintmark a squashed look. This coin's bold silver mint frost complements a full strike, with a subtle hint of clear gold adding flavor to the obverse. 727 1892'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $2,300.00 This coin's 'S' mintmark is delightfully sharp and clear. Boldly gleaming silver centers are haloed by peripheral russet-gold and a narrow band of blue on this example of a measurably lower-mintage San Francisco date. 728 1893 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $250.00 Normal date, fine die cracks join the lower wreath ribbon to Liberty's neck, point of neck to the tops of 'RICA'. This obverse displays forceful russet and blue around glittering silver, the reverse is boldly reflective silver-white. 729 1893'O' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $800.00 The strike is absolutely meticulous with a jewel-sharp date and a sharp spike extending right from the left tip of the reverse wreath. The most pleasing cartwheel gleam and a wisp of clearest peripheral gold combine to create the beauty of this well-struck New Orleans coin. 730 1893'S' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $1,200.00 Normal date and mintmark, the right tip of the wreath is clearly detached where it crosses under the left tip, a variety not listed in Lawrence. Peripheries on both sides are enhanced by a rich amber gleam that gives the coin its breath-taking beauty. 731 1894 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $1,100.00 This amazingly colorful obverse boasts an orange-gold center, iridescent blue fields, orange and silver at the sharp rims. The reverse is largely flashing silver for rich visual contrast. 732 1894 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $625.00 Crisply struck, this second sharp example of a busy date presents deep gunmetal centers surrounded by pervasive and glowing orange and rose-gold. 733 1894'O' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $5,500.00 Apparent repunching below the mintmark suggests the tail of a 'Q' and is unlisted by Lawrence, Breen, and Flynn. Deep iridescent blue and russet at the rims highlight the purity of the stark silver-white of the remaining surfaces on this example of a desirable low-mintage Branch Mint date. 734 1895 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $2,200.00 Traces of recutting are seen inside the lower loop of the '8'. Flashing silver of virtually prooflike intensity is highlighted on both sides by overlying coppery-gold with a flavoring of pale blue. The strike is delightfully sharp and fully detailed. Here is one of the finest examples of this scarce date likely to be found by the diligent searcher today. 735 1895'O' '5' far from Bust. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $6,500.00 Specialists regard this as the true key to the Barber series. Frosty silver shows an edging of subtle gold with a tantalizing wisp of palest blue. Here is a very satisfying specimen of the scarcest and most eagerly sought-after key to the early Barber dates. 736 1895'O' '5' far from Bust. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $9,500.00 Here is a second wholly pleasing example of this key Branch Mint date. Prooflike gleaming silver covers this sharply struck example. A suggestion of clear gold circles the crisply defined rims for delightful visual effect on this beautiful New Orleans coin. To be able to offer just one Mint State example of this coveted date is a feat; to offer two Uncirculated specimens is incredible. 737 1895'S' '5' touches Bust. Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $3,250.00  This boldly impressed date shows the tip of the '5' piercing the bust, distinctly different from the Lawrence plate showing the repunched '5'. This obverse presents rich old-gold toning that deepens toward the left. The reverse is mostly silver with clear gold near the outer rim on this exemplary Branch Mint strike. 738 1896 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $650.00 Normal, sharply impressed date shows a closed '9'. This glorious silver-white near-Gem radiates brightest lustre of the highest quality to provide the boldest visual effect. PCGS MS64. 739 1896 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $300.00 Digits in this date are high and sharp enough to cast shadows. Flashing cartwheel silver underlies clearly glowing gold that is slightly less intense on the meticulously detailed reverse. 740 1896 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $500.00 Another example of this important date showing normal date with a closed '9'. This handsome coin's shimmering silver is richly complemented by intense iridescent blue with bright rose-lilac centers for pleasing contrast. 741 1896'O' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $4,500.00 Diffuse gunmetal and blue surround the faintly rose-silver obverse center and largely rose reverse. This Branch Mint date is famously elusive, Lawrence calling it ''extremely tough to find'' in grades above Good to Fine, R-5 in all levels of Uncirculated. 742 1896'S' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $2,800.00 The crisply impressed mintmark exhibits machine doubling at the left side. Assertive silver-white contrasts with bright peripheral orange-gold with a faint dash of blue on this example of an important low-mintage coin which Lawrence calls ''historically undervalued.'' 743 1897 '7' Touches Bust. Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $400.00 The date shows no repunching. The corner of the '7' just touches the truncation, and the reverse wreath lacks depth in a number of locations due to repolishing of the die. Splendid silver lustre underlies a wealth of warm, clear gold for outstanding visual impact. 744 1897 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $160.00 The '7' in the date very nearly touches the bust. This distinctive specimen offers reflective silver and glowing gold. Perhaps only a single short cheek mark precludes a still higher grade. 745 1897'O' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $3,750.00 A razor-sharp strike results in splendid detail, all digits of the date are especially clear, the '9' firmly closed at base. Enhanced by coruscating silver glitter with a light veil of clearest gold, this is a handsome and significant key in outstanding grade. One of only 666,000 struck. 746 1897'S' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $6,500.00 This is a near-Gem displaying glittering silver flavored by light gold that deepens toward russet for bold optical effect. Lawrence states ''much scarcer than its mintage suggests... one of the toughest dates in the series.'' 747 1897'S' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $550.00 A second near-Gem with the 'S' clearly displaying shelf doubling at the left. This pleasing coin's glittering silver contrasts with light gold approaching russet for glowing overall beauty. 748 1898 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $425.00 The sharply cut date shows no trace of repunching. A whisper of delicate light gold overlies the boldest silver cartwheel lustre to create major visual appeal. 749 1898 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $200.00 Boldly glowing deep gold at the high rims contrasts with clear gold over the flashing silver of the exactingly detailed centers to offer exceptionally vivid eye appeal. 750 1898'O' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $3,000.00 The 'O' is heavily impressed on this coin's reverse, the date is equally clear. This coin's gleaming silver is complemented by clear bright gold to create a symphony of smooth appeal. 751 1898'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $1,400.00 - and close to the Choice category. A trace of repunching is most evident at the '1' in the date. Sparkling prooflike silver is complemented by fleck-gold of the greatest delicacy. 752 1899 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $250.00 Marvelous satiny silver is highlighted by the richest peripheral gold for powerful visual appeal and the underlying flash is unmistakable. 753 1899 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $120.00 Forcefully struck centers and devices stand out from the smooth fields, haloed by vivid glowing gold.
