Despite this minor shortcoming, however, the overall appearance remains quite distinctive. Very scarce at this grade level. 378 $1.00. Fr.224 AU $700.00 1896. No.31805647. A nicely centered About Uncirculated or better specimen. There is only a single horizontal centerfold on this otherwise mint condition banknote. In fact, the front of the note looks Uncirculated at first glance. Clean, fully colored, and very compelling. 379 $1.00. Fr.225 VF $220.00 1896. No.34694685. Very Fine but showing extensive wallet staining on the right ends of both sides. Good crispness and well centered. 380 $1.00. Fr.225 F $220.00 1896. No.34633322. Fine or nearly so. Choice Crisp Uncirculated or better were it not for some mounting remnants at each of the upper back corners. The paper quality is fresh and appealing. Decent centering with good color and paper quality define this note; $1.00. Fr.230. 1899. No.E61152757E. Very Fine. Good body with no problems but for a single pinhole at the top center. The date March 1, 1906 is written in pencil on the left part of the front of the note; $1.00. Fr.228. 1899. N89367419. Very Good. A toning area at the top left margin. Centered a bit tight at the bottom. 2 pieces. 384 $1.00. Fr.228 CH AU $250.00 1899. No.R26039799. Choice About Uncirculated. Well centered with excellent color and strong embossing. A really nice type note that exhibits some very minor toning on the two right corner tips. 385 $1.00. Fr.229. 1899. No.V100000000. Choice Crisp Uncirculated CH CU $20,000.00 - or virtually so. There is some light handling, as well as a trivial offset smear in the lower right front margin. Nicely centered, vibrant, and offering excellent paper quality. There is a single light center fold as well as a corner fold at the lower right. VERY CH CU $14,000.00 Choice About Uncirculated and easily a Very Choice Crisp Uncirculated example were it not for a single cornerfold at the lower right that involves about a half square inch area. No.Y456Y. Gem Crisp Uncirculated GEM CU $1,500.00 - and an outstanding specimen. Here is a splendid ''Black Eagle'' note that is both entirely fresh and wonderfully balanced. Very Choice Uncirculated VERY CH UNC $1,000.00 A fourth and final note in this consecutive run, the quality of which is virtually identical to that of its preceding brethren. The embossing, furthermore, is about as sharp as could possibly be expected. Here is a top-shelf example of this important rarity. It is hard to imagine finding a note of this nature that is any finer! 400 $1.00. Fr.236. 1899. No.R1A. Crisp Uncirculated CU $26,000.00 - with claims to a Choice designation. Well centered on either side. There is some handling at right, as well as a tiny tip fold at the lower right corner. This handsome specimen is new to the census and represents only the fourth known serial number 1 Black Eagle Silver Certificate of this signature combination. 401 $1.00. Fr.236. 1899. No.R100000000A. Gem Crisp Uncirculated GEM CU $22,000.00 - and a crackling-fresh example. The front centering is particularly compelling. This note combined with the immediately preceding lot represents both the first and the last note of the R-A block and constitutes a splendid pairing for the fancy serial number specialist! 402 $1.00. Choice Crisp Uncirculated and a crackling-fresh Gem were it not for a single very minor spot just inside the border design at the lower right front. 403 $1.00. Fr.237 VF $110.00 1923. No.Y5311881B. Technically Very Fine or better, however there are vertical quarter-folds that are deep and display some soiling. The back exhibits an oval rubber stamp ''chopmark'' from Foo Loong, 100 Queen's R.C., Hong Kong. The front also displays a smaller partial ''chopmark'' stamp in the extreme upper right field. A curious and highly desirable piece for the specialist. 404 $2.00. Fr.248 VG $325.00 1896. No.15170465. Very Good. A note that has seen some honest wear with no real problems but for about half a dozen pinholes. Still a decent example of this popular ''educational'' deuce. 405 $2.00. Fr.252 VG $190.00 1899. No.E4835028. A solid Very Good with very good margins all around. No edge splits, pinholes, etc. to affect the eye appeal of this popular note. 406 $2.00. Fr.253 VF $280.00 1899. No.E63511661.
