One of 17,000 struck long before collecting by mintmark became popular. 2357 1873 Open 3 AU $260.00 About Uncirculated. Considerable lustre with a few scattered tics define this example of an important variety of this date. 2358 1879, 1879'S', 1881'S' EF $500.00 Extremely Fine. All show some retained lustre, some faint red-gold on the first and last of this interesting trio. 3 pieces. 2359 1879'S' CH AU $150.00 Choice About Uncirculated. Some minor obverse nicks. Light hairlines in the field from a past cleaning. Here is an allegedly common date which is remarkably elusive in Choice and higher grade. 2361 1880'S' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $1,600.00 - on the cusp of fully Gem. The first shows bold red toning, the second is lustrous yellow-gold. 2 pieces. 2372 1886 AU $150.00 About Uncirculated. A lovely rose gold patina enhances this virtually Mint State specimen. 2373 1886'S' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $210.00 Sharp frosted devices float on very original surfaces with the obverse semi-prooflike. Rim bump at 11:00. 2374 1891 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $8,250.00 Original frosty gold surfaces with semi-prooflike reflectivity in the fields. The surfaces are remarkable as so few signs of handling are present, with no significant scuffs or nicks that impair the frost. This coin has been held in a collection for many years and has managed to remain quite pristine. Both dies show evidence of clashing, with the wings outlined in the fields near Liberty, and...  more 2375 1892 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $2,200.00 A frosty, original coin, with original surfaces that are bathed in mint lustre and show very few signs of handling. Scattered areas of copper toning are present, including one behind Liberty's head. Abundant eye appeal for the collector. 2376 1892 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $1,100.00 Especially bright and lustrous, with a good strike on all the devices. One thin hairline limits the grade, located inside of stars 4 and 5. Copper specks attest to the originality of this coin. 2377 1892 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $2,200.00 Lustrous and clean for the grade, with minimal bagmarks present on Liberty or the fields, but there are faint hairlines. Boldly struck throughout, and still appealing for this scarce issue. 2378 1892 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $3,700.00 Bold visual appeal dominates this specimen. Abundant lustre and well struck throughout. Colorful toning resides along the rim above STATES. An excellent example of this date. 2379 1892 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $3,250.00 Bright and lustrous, and totally original. This small group of 1892 Half Eagles have probably been together since the time they were coined. The strike is sharp as always seen, and the mint frost undisturbed save for a few minor nicks and scuffs. Another appealing coin. 2380 1892 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $4,000.00 A satiny coin that boasts clean surfaces and strong eye appeal. The surfaces have minute nicks from handling. One thin line extends up from the 'E' of FIVE nearly to the branch. Another desirable coin. 2381 1892 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $2,600.00 Radiant lustre in the fields and this one has splashes of colorful copper and green toning, particularly on the reverse. Liberty's cheek and neck are clean for the grade. Examination will find a few lint marks on the obverse, two on her cheek, others extending into the field near the top of her head. 2382 1892 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $4,500.00 Faint signs of handling are present with minute slide lines and a couple of scuffs, but a strong magnifier is needed to see them. Another beautiful coin that retains full lustre and a couple of minor copper specks on the reverse attesting to the passage of more than a century. Put away and preserved since the time of issue, and perfect for the collector or investor to long enjoy. 2383 1892 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $5,000.00 Vibrantly lustrous and sharply struck throughout. The surfaces are quite clean for the grade on this problem-free example. Most of the 1892's in this auction have a light meandering die crack through the legend and denomination of the reverse, and matching quality and color. 2384 1892 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $4,500.00 Satiny and attractive for the lustrous fields and clean surfaces. As with the other coins from this small group, there are minimal handling problems and most of these are testaments to what original coins look like.
