This pleasing high-grade coin saw brief circulation with much surviving lustre. The bold die line from the denticles after STATES is joined by a very sharply defined die dot like a misplaced comma right of the base of the last 'S', a bold anomaly not noted in Reiver-Bolender. Liberty Seated Dollars Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 1634 1846'O' VF $240.00 Very Fine. An acceptable example with only normal circulation marks in the field, but a tiny rim dent at 2:00 on the reverse. Dipped at one time and only now beginning to retone. A mere 59,000 pieces were made of this first branch mint Silver Dollar. 1635 1859'O' CH AU $360.00 Choice About Uncirculated, but lightly cleaned and brushed. The coin still has a pleasing appearance and is very well struck with all the detail extant. A small disturbance exists at 'E' in ONE and 'D' in 'DOL' on the reverse. 1636 1860'O' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $775.00 Boldest strike joins extensive lustre to give this handsome coin its forceful charm. Trade Dollars Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 1637 1876'S' Type 2 Obverse and Reverse. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $500.00 An attractive example with rather subdued lustre and sharp detail. The piece is soft white with deep cinnamon toning beginning at the eagle's left wing, continuing around, and outlining the legend on the reverse. A small reeding mark exists just south of Ms. Liberty's right elbow, but the coin is remarkably free of the marks so prevalent on large silver coins. 1638 1877'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $527.00 A powerful strike and abundant lustre provide solid appeal to this San Francisco coin, produced during the brief high tide of this historic Silver denomination. 1639 1878'S' AU $250.00 About Uncirculated, and with evidence of light handling but with no major detracting surface marks. Morgan Silver Dollars Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 1640 1878'CC' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $700.00 - and white with russet toning at the rims. Typical field marks exist but the cheek has only a few ticks and the devices are nicely struck. A rim nick appears at about 11:30 on the obverse. 1641 1879'CC' 'CC over CC' VG $450.00 Fine, but cleaned long ago and now retoned to an attractive, soft gray patina; 1890'CC' Very Good, with a few minor scratches, mostly on the reverse, and a battleship gray patina; 1891'CC' Very Fine, with several rim nicks on the reverse, but with decent surfaces. 3 pieces. 1642 1880'CC' Rev. of '79. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $360.00 - and prooflike with lots of frost on the devices. There are a few trivial marks in the obverse field and a few bagmarks on Ms. Liberty's face. The reverse is free of any major detracting marks, and the entire coin is bathed in a pale pink patina. 1643 1881'CC' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $450.00 Frosty cartwheel lustre drenches both sides of this pleasing near-Gem Carson City strike, the reverse displays measurably greater reflectivity. 1644 1881'CC' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $400.00 - and frosty with original surfaces. A soft white coin, with satiny lustre but nicely struck. A small rim nick at 2:00 is the coin's only detracting mark. 1645 1881'CC' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $325.00 No trace of wear shows on this coin, but it has been dipped and lightly burnished. To its credit, there are few detracting marks on the surface and it still exhibits an attractive appearance. 1646 1882 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $210.00 - and white, frosty and lustrous; 1882 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated, with deep mirrors and frosted devices. A very pleasing example; 1882 Brilliant Uncirculated, frosty and white but with many small contact marks on the obverse but a clean reverse with cartwheel lustre; 1882 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated, and white, with cartwheel lustre and minor contact marks; 1882 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated, and...  more 1647 1882'CC' Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $460.00 - and prooflike and sharply struck. Attractive, mostly frosted devices give this piece almost a cameo effect. The coin is finished in a lovely pale lilac patina; 1884'CC' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated. A handsome example with a shimmering obverse, with tiny splashes of lavender-russet toning, and a semi-prooflike reverse. 2 pieces. 1648 1885'CC' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $420.00 - but dipped and starting to retone. A still attractive example with smooth fields and no major detracting marks. 1649 1888'S' AU $400.00 About Uncirculated, with subdued lustre and light rim toning; 1893'O' Very Fine, but cleaned and now starting to retone. 2 pieces. 1650 1889'CC' F $675.00 Fine. Circulation is generally as expected for this grade but this obverse shows several scattered peck marks. Here is a Carson City date that is highly elusive in every possible grade. 1651 1893'CC' VG $280.00 Very Good, and still attractive for the grade, with just a touch of russet toning at the rims; 1893'O' Very Good. A well used piece, but with no major detracting marks and just honest wear. 2 pieces. 1652 1896'S' AU $1,000.00 About Uncirculated, and white with light wear, and a few digs in the obverse surface from circulation. The coin has the majority of the original lustre remaining and has a pleasing appearance. 1653 1898'O' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $160.00 - with a gorgeous, virtually mark-free face and virtually clean fields. Marvelous, shimmering lustre gives this coin a very attractive appearance. 1654 1903'O' VF $225.00 Very Fine. Evenly and moderately worn, this piece is only impaired by having been dipped and wiped. Future toning will improve its appearance. 1655 1904'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $850.00 - with the pleasing cartwheel lustre more typical of higher grade.
