Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 1589 1¢ 1893 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $750.00 Delicately mellowed mint red fields and design features enjoy lovely champagne-rose accents on either side. One of 2,195 Proof Cents struck of this date. 1590 5¢ 1893 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $325.00 - and easily of Gem quality were it not for a single obverse rim speck at 12:00. This sharp, watery, pale lilac example is highly appealing. As is the case with the Cents of this date, the Proof Nickel mintage totals 2,195 pieces. 1591 10¢ 1893 Superb Gem Brilliant Proof SUP GEM BR PF $5,500.00 - and an absolute beauty! Lavender-violet iridescence bathes liquid-mirror fields and cameo devices. The surfaces are razor-sharp and essentially flawless! It would be incredibly difficult, if not impossible to acquire a finer Proof example of this date! Only 792 such Proofs were coined. 1592 25¢ 1893 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $3,750.00 Ultra-white full cameo design elements float in glittering mirror fields of outstanding quality. A blindingly vibrant, wonderfully compelling specimen! The Proof mintage (792 pieces) is identical to that of the Dimes, Half Dollars, and Silver Dollars of this date. 1593 50¢ 1893 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $4,500.00 - or essentially so. There are two or three microscopic obverse shiny spots on Liberty's cheek, otherwise this delicately toned, ultra-deep cameo example is free of even the slightest defect that would require mention. Full watery-mirror fields complete this exceptional coin. One of a mere 792 Proofs minted. 1594 $1.00 1893 VERY CH BR PF $7,000.00 A two-tone, fully cameo Very Choice Brilliant Proof. Rich, deep frosty legends and devices complement glassy-Proof fields. This near-Gem, though a bit soft at the centers, offers excellent visual allure. Proof Coins → Proof Coins of 1894 Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 1595 1¢ 1894 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $350.00 Needle-sharp devices accompany nicely mirrored fields. This evenly toned medium brown example is accented by mint red and champagne-rose iridescent highlights on either side. The Proof mintage for both this coin and the Nickel that immediately follows totals 2,632 pieces. 1596 5¢ 1894 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $2,600.00 Here is a delicate lavender-golden example that enjoys a smooth, wonderfully honest visual presentation. Even close examination with a glass reveals only the most minor of microscopic defects. 1597 10¢ 1894 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $1,600.00 A blend of lavender-russet iridescence is featured on this premium quality, awe-inspiring specimen. Razor-sharp devices and well mirrored fields exude originality in every respect! Each of the silver denominations of this date offer a Proof mintage of just 972 pieces. 1598 25¢ 1894 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $2,400.00 Deep lavender-gray toning bathes this entirely original specimen. The underlying surfaces show virtually no defects, even when scrutinized with a glass. 1599 50¢ 1894 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $2,750.00 The obverse nicely matches the prior lot; there being a blend of deep lavender-gray and golden iridescence. The reverse enjoys dazzling reflectivity beneath a wisp of pale golden toning. 1600 $1.00 1894 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $6,000.00 This very handsome example is truly an outstanding companion piece to the prior silver coins from this set as the color matches wonderfully. Deep lavender-gray and golden iridescence immerses cameo design elements. There is a very minor stain in the left obverse field adjacent to Liberty's forehead, however the overall surface quality is really quite impressive. The reverse is that of a Gem and enjoys full fiery mint color. The Proof mintage of both the Cent and Nickel of this date totals 1,862 pieces. 1602 5¢ 1896 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $450.00 This completely wholesome specimen still exhibits its entire original ''skin'' on either side. Pale lilac toning is featured on this sharp, well mirrored coin. 1603 10¢ 1896 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $2,600.00 - and a beauty! Liquid-mirror fields and cameo design features are marvelously augmented by overlying lavender and golden iridescent hues. One would be very hard-pressed indeed to find an aesthetically more pleasing Proof example of this issue. A mere 762 Proofs were coined of each silver denomination of this date. 1604 25¢ 1896 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $5,250.00 The obverse displays varying shades of lilac, lavender-golden, and pale gray iridescence. The reverse is toned an even lavender-gray. Examination beneath the toning with a glass yields surface quality that is far superior to the vast majority of Barber Quarter Proof type coins. 1605 50¢ 1896 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $8,000.00 - and a compelling jewel! The obverse exhibits splashes of rose and delicate golden iridescence over fully frosty design elements. Glowing, unencumbered watery-mirror fields are equally as impressive. 1606 $1.00 1896 GEM BR PF $37,500.00 An absolutely stunning Gem Brilliant Proof specimen. This ''black and white'' two-tone ultra-deep cameo Proof features razor-sharp definition and impeccable fields. Proof Coins → Proof Coins of 1897 Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 1607 1¢ 1897 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $600.00 - with claims to the Gem category. Sharp, well mirrored, and entirely original. Shades of medium brown patina are embellished by underlying rose and faded mint red highlights. Both the Cent and Nickel of this date share identical Proof mintages of 1,938 pieces. 1608 5¢ 1897 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $1,700.00 Here is a first rate, entirely satisfying example. A wonderfully balanced blend of pale champagne and lilac-green toning augments underlying virtually flawless fields and devices. 1609 10¢ 1897 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $1,600.00 There is a pair of well concealed obverse hairlines beneath the toning on Liberty's cheek, otherwise this majestic piece would easily warrant a strong Gem designation. The obverse exhibits rich shades of lavender, lilac, and rose iridescence. Splashes of champagne toning heighten a glittering reverse. The four silver denominations of this date all enjoy a Proof mintage of only 731 pieces. 1610 25¢ 1897 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $3,850.00 - albeit rather deeply toned. This entirely ''virgin'' specimen displays varying shades of deep jade-gold and lavender-gray iridescence on either side. The underlying fields and design features are essentially hairline-free. 1611 50¢ 1897 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $3,600.00 As is the case with the prior lot, the toning is deeper than the norm. The underlying surface quality, however, is far superior to that typically encountered on Proof coins of this very fragile design. A blend of rich russet and rose iridescence bathes both the obverse and reverse. 1612 $1.00 1897 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $13,000.00 - and a top-shelf example in every respect. One must look long and hard to find even the most inconsequential of defects on this beauty! Assertive cameo contrast is complemented by an awe-inspiring blush of lavender and rose-gray iridescence. Watery rose toning at part of the reverse rim frames ever so delicately mellowed mint color. A total of 1,795 Proofs were coined of both the Cent and Nickel of this date. 1614 5¢ 1898 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $1,700.00 A pale lilac, deep cameo obverse is absolutely superb. The reverse is toned a blend of rose and tan-gold over watery mirrored surfaces. 1615 10¢ 1898 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $4,250.00 Varying shades of olive-gold, lavender-gray, and rose toning venerate pristine underlying fields and design elements. The four silver coins of this date each offer an identical Proof mintage of just 735 specimens. 1616 25¢ 1898 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $5,000.00 Virtually flawless surfaces are awash in deep lavender-violet toning. Golden highlights accentuate the reverse. The fields are well mirrored, and the design features are entirely frosty. 1617 50¢ 1898 Superb Gem Brilliant Proof SUP GEM BR PF $5,500.00 Frosty devices are afloat in glittering-mirror fields. There is a rich blend of lilac and lavender-champagne iridescence that blankets either side of this razor-sharp jewel. Even the closest scrutiny of this marvelous coin confirms its near-perfection. 1618 $1.00 1898 Superb Gem Brilliant Proof SUP GEM BR PF $19,000.00 Areas of rose-golden, lavender, and pale blue iridescence coalesce in a most compelling way on both the obverse and reverse.
