A check for $158.82 drawn on the Bank of Alexandria dated 18th of February, 1799. These were bearer checks and could be endorsed to further payees. A desirable check written in the early part of the year of Washington's death. The Bank of Alexandria was one of the earliest incorporated banks in the fledgling United...  more 2026 Autographed Check on the Bank of the United States CH $7,000.00 1793, signed by Thomas Jefferson. Third President of the United States. A check for $186.36 drawn on the Bank of the United States dated November 22, 1793. This was the first Bank. Payable to 'order' written over printed 'Bearer'. Issued prior to his term as President. From the face, a choice check with the signature full and bold. Sixth President of the United States. A check for $58.13 drawn on the Office of Discount and Deposit of the Bank of the United States, Boston dated 5th October, 1819. Accomplished and signed in his small hand 'J.Q. Adams' at the lower right. The 'J' is blurred. A sharply accomplished check in ''Old Hickory's'' hand and with a touch of irony. In five years Jackson would be at war with the Third Bank of the United States and watch over a financial...  more 2029 Autographed Check on the Cashier of the Miami Exporting Company (see below) $950.00 1815, signed by William Henry Harrison. Ninth President of the United States. A check for $10.00 drawn on the Miami Exporting Company dated June 3, 1815. A check drawn after the War of 1812 on a company that operated as one of the largest banks of issue in Ohio at the time. Eventually, the bank would fail in a few short years. Sharply signed with a hammer cancel that touches the left...  more 2030 Autographed Check on the New York State Bank [,], Albany NEW $1,200.00 1859, signed by Millard Fillmore. Thirteenth President of the United States. A check for $118.00 drawn on the N.Y. State Bank in Albany dated February 10, 1859. Fillmore was perhaps our most ''Missing in Action'' President. His lack of actions did not help ease tensions that eventually led to the Civil War in 1861. Seventeenth President of the United States. The check is issued to Johnson, but not by him visibly. Drawn for $510.28 on Feb.28, 1861, just prior to Fort Sumter. Printed in light red with some fading. Signed by the Secretary of the Senate. A hole cancel and a hammer cancel. Mounted on a display board by the corner tips. 2032 Autographed Check on the First National Bank of Washington (see below) $1,200.00 1867, signed by U. S. Grant. Eighteenth President of the United States. A check for $10,000.00 drawn on the First National Bank of Washington dated Nov. 22, 1867. The check was payable to ''Myself'' and is for a healthy amount. Affixed 5¢ revenue stamp at the left. The check is well accomplished and sharply signed. The amount is extraordinary for the time and certainly much more...  more 2033 Autographed Check on the Sergeant-at-Arms U.S. House of Representatives (see below) $650.00 1876, signed by James A. Garfield. Twentieth President of the United States. A check for $100.00 drawn on the account of the Sergeant-at-Arms U.S. House of Representatives dated Feb. 21, 1876. A counter check signed by Garfield in a clear hand and payable to ''myself''. Ink stamped at the right end and a partial hammer cancel. Mounted on a display board by the corner tips. 2034 Autographed Check on the Canton Bank (see below) $475.00 1880, signed by William McKinley. Twenty-fifth President of the United States. A check for $2.50 drawn on the Canton Bank in Ohio dated July 13, 1880. At the upper left is a 2¢ revenue stamp. The check is printed in red and has faded from display, but still readable. The pen is boldly accomplished, but there is some ''blur'' in the signature. A check for $7.00 drawn on the Astor Trust Co. in New York dated August 23, 1912. Bank logo at the upper left. Perforation cancels in the center, but well signed and bright. Mounted by the corners on a small card. 2036 Autographed Check on the Northampton National Bank and Trust Company (see below) $375.00 1932, signed by Calvin Coolidge. Thirtieth President of the United States. A check for $18.66 drawn on the Northampton National Bank and Trust Company dated May 13, 1932. Signed by Coolidge, but not accomplished by him. Small vignette at the center. Perforation cancels at the center, a few touch the first name. Mounted by the corners on a small card. 2037 Autographed Check on the Edison Botanic Research Company VF $575.00 1929, signed by Thomas Edison. A check for $110.00 drawn on the Edison Botanic Research Company in West Orange, N.J. dated April 2, 1929 (stamped date on the verso). Bold ''umbrella'' signature of Edison.
