1915 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated. A satiny silver-gray coin that has subdued lustre in the fields, but generally clean surfaces. There are a couple of nicks on the lower portion of Liberty's neck and another small reeding mark on her jaw which combined kept this from a higher grade. Rather well struck, but there is a touch of softness on the obverse high points. Another key date with a token mintage of 138,000 pieces, a fact that is probably attributable to several causes. The economic disruptions to the monetary system as a result of World War I limited silver issues on some series, and the mints were focused on the new upcoming coinage designs for the Dime, Quarter and Half Dollar which were unveiled in 1916. Hence the 1915 Barber Half Dollar remains a rare issue.
