1926'S' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated. Profound orange-gold mint frost populate the immaculate fields of this San Francisco scarcity, with naturally occurring areas of shiny pale copper toning in and around the central devices on both sides. Surfaces are essentially free and clear of any disfiguring bagmarks, leaving just a few minor specks to keep this from a lofty Gem grade. The rims display the characteristic beveling on survivors of this issue, with the fields suddenly and significantly dropping off toward the edge. Despite a lofty two million plus mintage, the 1926'S' is rare today, most probably as a result of the gold melts that occurred in the post-1933 United States that no longer held to the gold standard.
