1846 Medium Date. Repunched Date. Wiley-Bugert 102. ''Errant 6.'' So-called 1846/5. Choice Extremely Fine. Golden-gray toning with areas of blue from long time envelope storage. The lower loop of the initial '6' can be seen far to the northwest of the main '6', between the '4' and '6' in the date. The existence of an unfinished area in the lower loop of the '6' had in the past led researchers to believe that this variety was actually a 6/5 overdate, but this theory has since gone out of fashion.
