Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $160.00 A spot-free, boldly struck coin that exudes all the freshness imparted by the dies nearly 100 years ago. Awash in a light golden hue that adds to the appeal. 1486 1913 Type I. Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $140.00 Sharply struck and lustrous, one tick on the bison's horn; 1913'D' Type I. About Uncirculated. Lightly cleaned in the past; 1913 Type II. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated. A touch of gold over lustre and attractive. 3 pieces. 1487 1913'D' Type I. Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $300.00 Here is a sharply impressed example of this date. In particular, note the definition around the rim of this coin. The surfaces are clean and attractive, with blazing lustre throughout. Generally bright white save for a blush of gold starting to form. First year of issue, and a short-lived type coin that had the reverse design modified below the bison before the end of the year. 1488 1913'D' Type I. Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $150.00 Another frosty and lustrous coin which has clean surfaces. The strike is not quite full on the bison's head, an area frequently encountered with softness. Toned with rose-gold and traces of iridescence. 1489 1913'S' Type I. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $200.00 - nearly Choice. Gorgeous rainbow iridescent toning on both sides and fairly well struck. Identifiable by a tiny green speck at the top of the Indian's head, another on the reverse rim near the left edge of the rocky base. One of the scarcer dates and always in fervent demand. 1490 1913'D' Type II. CH AU $230.00 Choice About Uncirculated, just on the cusp of Mint State. Lustrous and attractive, with nickel-blue peripheral toning, yellow-gold to the centers. 1491 1913'S' Type II. Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $1,400.00 A bright, lustrous coin that boasts a good strike and excellent surfaces. There is a tiny speck below the bisons belly on the ground, which requires no further explanation. One of the key dates to the series, and a delightful coin indeed. A date that is always in demand, and perfect for the date collector. 1492 1914 Gem Proof GEM PF $1,800.00 Toned with a hint of rose-gold and nickel blue on both sides which fails to mitigate the brightness imparted by the dies. The strike is perfectly sharp, as expected on one of these early Proofs. For identification there is a microscopic speck located in the Indian's hair behind his temple. Any collector who demands outstanding quality will be more than satisfied with the present coin....  more 1493 1914 BU $110.00 About Uncirculated, with pale russet toning; 1915 Brilliant Uncirculated, with claims to Choice; 1915'D' Detail of Extremely Fine, but burnished and still bright. 3 pieces. 1494 1914'D' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $450.00 - but lightly cleaned. A little bright but still an attractive example of this elusive mintmarked date. On the obverse, a thin die crack is found at the back of the Indian's head, with a branch trickling down his braid. 1495 1914'S' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $375.00 - with claims to Gem. With wonderfully textured surfaces and color that remains bright. Examination will find faint flyspecks on the Indian's hair and braid, but they are minimally distracting. Another scarce date in such pleasing condition. 1496 1915'S' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $650.00 - virtually a Gem. The San Francisco Mint moved away from the textured lustre seen on the first two years of the Buffalo series so this 1915 shows reflective fields with traces of reflectivity in the recesses of the design as well. Bright and attractive with no surface problems to distract. As to the strike, there is minor softness around the Indian's ear and shoulder of the bison. An...  more 1497 1916 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $140.00 - or essentially so, bright and untoned; 1917 Detail of About Uncirculated, but cleaned although very sharply struck; 1917'D' Extremely Fine with respect to wear but buffed to simulate lustre. 3 pieces. 1498 1916'D' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $200.00 This coin has subtle but very colorful iridescent toning on the obverse, less so on the reverse which is more golden. Clean surfaces with no distracting spots or nicks worthy of note. The reverse has a lump on the rim caused by a chip out of the die, not to be confused with a rim bruise. 1499 1916'D' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $200.00 - or better. However, there are some very light glue deposits on the obverse which are removable. Frosty and lustrous, with a decent strike and a touch of colorful toning. 1500 1916'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $150.00 - nearly of Choice quality. Struck from worn dies as were many of this date and mint, with a thin obverse die crack connecting the tops of the date, another from the Indian's nose to the rim and significant die erosion in the fields. The reverse is sharper although the rims are quite beveled, a typical feature on the San Francisco coins of the period. 1501 1917'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $475.00 Sharply struck for this date and mint and attractive for the matte gray appearance with a touch of colorful iridescence. Slight strike doubling is present on the face and date. Scarce and desirable in this grade. 1502 1918 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $260.00 - but for light slide marks on the Indian's head; 1921 Detail of Extremely Fine, buffed mercilessly and pitted on the obverse; 1923 Brilliant Uncirculated. Lustrous and attractive. 3 pieces. 1503 1918'D' CH EF $240.00 Choice Extremely Fine, approaching About Uncirculated. Dark steel-gray and pleasing for the grade. 1504 1918'S' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $2,800.00 Sharply impressed by the dies, particularly so on the reverse, with a partial wire rim in fact. The surfaces are clean and bright, with no problem spots or similar detraction. Minimal signs of handling, and a scarce issue when found so well preserved. 1505 1919 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $140.00 - with claims to a Gem grade. Streaky gold toning as often seen on this date, but lustrous and attractive. The surfaces are quite clean, and the reverse is particularly well struck for this date. A satisfying example of this coin. 1506 1919'D' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $4,000.00 A boldly struck coin that boasts crisp lettering on both sides, and a partial wire rim on the reverse. The color is bright and reflective, with just a hint of toning starting to form. Virtually free of distracting specks or spots, and far and away nicer than the vast majority of this date that survive. 1507 1919'S' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $1,500.00 - and ever so close to Gem. A vibrant and lustrous coin that boasts a sharp strike on the obverse, the reverse more typical with minor softness on the bison's head, but the horn is completely defined. One trivial graze on the Indian's cheek from a higher grade, and a tiny carbon fleck is found left of the date. San Francisco coinage of this period is often poorly struck up, and locating...  more 1508 1920 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $550.00 A vibrant, white coin that has just a whisper of gold toning starting to form. The strike and quality of the surfaces belies the age, and this is a coin which any numismatist will enjoy. 1509 1920'D' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $1,500.00 Bright and fresh, with a ring of orange-gold around the obverse, less so on the reverse. Sharp generally, with the obverse better than average despite trace softness on the Indian's feather tip. On the reverse, the lettering is sharp despite several thin die cracks, one spanning that side vertically down the bison's leg, others on the upper right. Nice surfaces and eye appeal for the...  more 1510 1920'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $425.00 The obverse is easily Choice, but there is a long pin scratch on the reverse from the bison's tail to the forward leg. Lustrous and generally well struck, and there are some faint specks on the obverse. Still decent appeal for the grade, as most coins so graded lack the lustre and eye appeal. 1511 1921'S' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $2,600.00 A satiny near-gem that retains bold visual appeal, abundant lustre and soft gray hues. The obverse is sharply impressed, the reverse too save for the bison's head, which lacks the fully woolly curls of other dates. A scarcer date that is a challenge to find this attractive and well preserved. 1512 1923'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $475.00 The surfaces are those of a Choice coin, but the lustre is somewhat muted. A decent strike and traces of colorful iridescence are present on the reverse. Another scarce issue. 1513 1924 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $420.00 Bright orange-gold toning on both sides and a decent strike hallmark this specimen. The surfaces are clean, although we note a minor tick on the bison's stomach, another on his hind thigh. NGC MS66. 1514 1924 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $280.00 Flashy and bright with a hint of nickel blue color. The surfaces have a scattering of minute specks, a feature common on these early Buffaloes. The surfaces are otherwise clean and the strike decent for this date.
