A diamond-sharp strike and gleaming silver fields combine to ensure the boldest visual quality. The ring below the cross and the wreath leaves are vividly doubled on this obverse. NGC PF64. 1895 1883 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $750.00 Gorgeous silver gleam defines this super-Gem example of the final Shield date. Immaculate silvery surfaces boast powerful cartwheel reflectivity and exceptionally exact devices. Finding a superior example of this historic date would be a task. NGC MS66. 1897 1887 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $220.00 Wonderful iridescent toning over olive-gray surfaces. The strike is a bit weak in the hair and behind the bun but the lustre peeks out strongly from beneath the toning. 1898 1893 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $220.00 - with the look of a higher grade. Some very light spots prevent us from designating this coin any higher. The color is a deep rose and the strike is quite impressive. 1899 1897 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $125.00 Deep golden toning over surfaces which exhibit some moderate spotting. Sharply struck. 1900 1908 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $200.00 Deep Proof fields give this exciting coin wonderful eye appeal. The coin has a very light iridescent tinge to it which further enhances the appeal. A few edge spots. 1901 1912'S' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $2,200.00 Medium rose-gold and gray toning over very well struck surfaces. Buffalo Nickels Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 1902 1913 Type I. Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $775.00 Outstanding orange-gold color over well struck surfaces. No major marks to detract from this thrilling coin. Very boldly struck and boasting the initial appearance of a Matte Proof. 1903 1914 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $60.00 A wonderfully toned coin with rose-gold over well struck surfaces. A few spots on both sides are this coin's major detraction. 1904 1915'D' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $1,400.00 Blazing mint lustre with some reddish-gold toning over gray surfaces. Sharply struck with excellent surfaces. Scarce in this high state of preservation. 1905 1917'D' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $450.00 - nearly Choice. Light iridescent toning over decent surfaces. The strike is a bit mediocre, otherwise this is a pleasing coin for the grade. 1906 1918/7'D' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $31,000.00 - and nearly Choice. This pale steel-gray example has a wealth of attractive lustre. This specimen would surely be classified at least a grade higher if the strike were just a trifle sharper. A pleasing example of this popular overdate that is quite scarce in all grades, let alone Mint State. PCGS MS62. 1907 1918/7'D' CH AU $14,000.00 Choice About Uncirculated. This example of a bold First World War overdate shows a bold full horn signifying minimal actual wear. Smooth surfaces are bathed in tawny gold, accentuating the delightfully bold detail. Here is a very high grade, unusually attractive example of a famed overdate for a general or specialized collection. 1908 1919 Very Brilliant Uncirculated BU $105.00 - and virtually of Gem quality. Delicate golden toning over nicely struck surfaces. A very appealing coin for the grade. 1909 1919'S' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $8,000.00 Gleaming fields and boldly detailed reliefs give this example of a key post-war Buffalo date its virtually prooflike visual quality. Here is a coin destined to be the keystone of some outstanding collection. 1910 1923'S' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $2,500.00 Exceptional detail underscores the quality of strike on the desirable 1920's San Francisco Nickel. Gleaming surfaces are laved in delicate gold. Few coins of this scarce and coveted date exist at this lofty quality level. 1911 1924'D' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $1,200.00 An exceptionally bold strike creates delightfully full detail, beautified by the clearest light gold pervading the satiny-smooth surfaces. 1912 1924'D' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $1,100.00 A second high quality coin boasting the most tantalizing pale blue and glowing rose sheens on glassy surfaces. 1913 1924'D' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $1,200.00 A third crisply struck example offering delicately frosty surfaces of palest gold. 1914 1925'D' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $1,400.00 Glass-smooth fields show an overall blush of red-gold including two concentrations in the right obverse field, the reverse detail must be called extraordinary. PCGS MS64. 1915 1926'S' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $16,000.00 - with some claims to the Gem category. Lovely golden toning over decently struck surfaces. The lustre is satiny and quite nice for this difficult date. A magnificent example of this rare date that should see strong collector bidding. 1916 1926'S' AU $1,600.00 About Uncirculated in terms of detail but the coin suffers a bit from areas of mild porosity. The strike is weak. The color is a pleasing olive-green giving this scarce date a respectable appearance. 1917 1937'D' Three-Legged VF $630.00 Very Fine. Deep gray toning. A scratch in front of the nose and a few pinscratches on the reverse. Scarce. 1918 Nearly Complete Set of Jefferson Nickels, 1938-1954'P,D,S' BU to GEM BU $275.00 Brilliant Uncirculated to Gem Brilliant Uncirculated. Missing only 1950, 1953'P,D,S' to be complete.
