One of 1,245 Proofs struck and a wholly satisfying light cameo-contrast example of the first date of Barber coinage. 1658 1893 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $4,250.00 Richly glowing tawny gold deepens at the rims, highlighting the deep-mirror fields and immaculate devices. One of 792 Proofs struck and certainly one of the finest accessible to discriminating collectors today. 1659 1894 Brilliant Proof BR PF $600.00 - nearly Choice. Gleaming silver contrasts with scattered russet on the obverse rim and surrounding the reverse reliefs. One of 972 Proofs struck, and a coin worthy of close examination. 1660 1895 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $1,100.00 The intensely Cameo devices stand out boldly from the deepest mirror fields to create exceptional visual appeal. The date presents the repunched peak on the '1' noted by Breen in his Proof Encyclopedia. One of 880 Proofs struck. A wisp of clear gold on the obverse rim adds to this coin's magnificent appeal. 1661 1896 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $725.00 - or somewhat finer. Gleaming silver-white devices are delicately outlined in wisps of deep toning for dramatic contrast. One of 762 struck and a wholly pleasing survivor of this limited mintage. 1662 1897 Brilliant Proof BR PF $600.00 - with claims to Choice. Clear tawny russet-gold shadows this coin's deeply gleaming silver fields, contrasting with more silvery reliefs. One of 731 Proofs struck and as handsome a representative as might be desired. 1663 1898 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $2,600.00 Splendid silver-white frosty Liberty head and spread eagle create the most powerful cameo contrast for this example of a Proof mintage of 735 pieces. Diamond-crisp devices float on fields that show hints of very subtle white near the sharply squared rims. 1664 1898 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $1,400.00 Delicate gold in the centers with the edge showing iridescent blue and gold. Well struck. 1665 1899 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $10,000.00 This coin must be described as an awesome, full Cameo example of a Proof mintage of 846 pieces. The finely frosted, glowing silver Liberty head displays a tantalizing hint of clearest pale rose. The reverse is deep electric blue, lilac and rose for dramatic beauty. 1666 1900 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $3,250.00 - not far from Gem. Stark silver-white shows a gentle pale-rose suffusion and a hair-thin toning line slants across Liberty's jaw and neck. A glass reveals an incomplete strike over the eagle's eye. One of 912 Proofs struck and an exceptionally high quality example. 1667 1900'O' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $450.00 A solid example of this classic series. Problem-free and essentially devoid of any major marks. 1668 1901 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $1,000.00 Brightly frosty Liberty head stands out from a glass-smooth field. Reverse is largely gleaming rose of exceptional intensity and overall beauty. One of 813 Proofs struck. Perhaps only a hairline from full Gem. 1669 1902 Brilliant Proof BR PF $500.00 - with claims to Choice. The surfaces include glittering glassy fields and bold devices, highlighted by a tantalizing flash of pale gold for exceptional charm. One of 777 Proofs struck. 1670 1903 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $5,000.00 - nearly in the Gem category. Semi-brilliant devices and glittering mirror fields share a flavor of clearest red-gold for bold beauty and appeal. One of 755 Proofs struck and difficult to find today in such exquisite preservation. 1671 1904 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $4,250.00 Splendid Cameo quality gives this example of a Proof mintage of 670 the beauty of Superb. The exciting near-perfection of this glittering Gem makes it a wonderful exception to the late Walter Breen's repeated complaint about Proofs of this era, ''most specimens have been cleaned to death.'' Finding a finer specimen would certainly be a major undertaking. 1672 1905 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $450.00 - with claims to a yet higher grade. Glorious burnt-umber toning shows a hint of blue with a somewhat brighter silver at the lightly toned centers. One of 727 Proofs struck. 1673 1905 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $1,200.00 Light rose and deep iridescent blue toning over nicely preserved surfaces. The strike is excellent overall and gives this coin wonderful appeal. 1674 1906 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $3,000.00 Gleaming silver-white is subtly flavored with clearest rose on this example of 675 Proofs struck. This extraordinary coin would be an unquestioned Gem but for a spot on Liberty's cap. 1675 1907 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $7,500.00 Incredibly reflective mirror fields and devices flash under a whisper of the most understated rose. This exceptionally desirable early 20th century date boasts a Proof mintage of only 575 pieces. Here is an ideal coin for any high-level Proof or general collection. 1676 1908 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $6,500.00 Faintly rosy toning enlivens stark white devices. Fields are boldly reflective with an interesting halo effect caused by hazy whitish toning. Only 545 Proofs were struck of this historic date. 1677 1909 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $4,500.00 Vivid mirror flash is divided between stark gleaming silver and fascinating clear rose. One of only 650 Proofs struck and certainly one of the most colorful available today. 1678 1910 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $800.00 Bright silver surfaces offer the boldest mirror reflectivity with the faintest hint of clear gold for added visual appeal. Only 551 Proofs were struck in a date that saw only 418,000 business strikes produced. 1679 1911 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $6,000.00 Blazing deep orange-gold and vibrant blue make a colorful display on this meticulously struck Proof, one of 543 struck. Here is a particularly splendid example of the later Barber dates. 1680 1912 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $5,500.00 Exquisite lilac and orange-gold sheens enliven virtually pristine surfaces of primal beauty. One of 700 Proofs struck and undoubtedly among the finest existing today. 1681 1913 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $2,400.00 Bright silver joins a vivid sheen of clear gold, deeper russet flecks and a hint of cloudy field toning on this example of a Proof mintage of 622 pieces. 1682 1914 Brilliant Proof BR PF $450.00 Here is a seemingly brilliant and fascinating example in terms of sheer beauty. However, close examination reveals forceful obverse polishing. 1683 1915 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $1,800.00 Narrow bands of bright gold near the precise rims highlights the breath-taking silver reflectivity of the centers on this visually exciting example of the last Barber date, of which only 450 Proofs were struck. 1684 1915 Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $4,750.00 Rich icy-silver mint frost flashes on the fields and reliefs of this sharply struck example of the last Philadelphia date.
