Choice About Uncirculated, on the cusp of higher grade. This example of the first Classic Head date is very boldly struck with lustre intact around the devices. Some hairlines are the result of casual handling long ago.
1148 1834 Small Head, No Arrows AU $500.00

A sharp About Uncirculated or nearly so. Olive-golden fields and devices display evidence of a past light cleaning. There is a thin defect that is confined to the rim at 3:00 on the obverse, however the overall presentation of this scarce type coin remains quite respectable.
1149 1834 No Motto EF $500.00

Extremely Fine. Some early removable lacquer. There is a contact mark in the upper left reverse field.
1150 1836 VF $375.00

Very Fine. A pleasing and generally problem-free specimen. Lacquered.
1151 1838 CH VF $750.00

Choice Very Fine. Circulation is quite moderate and problem-free, surfaces are a satisfying uniform yellow-gold.
1152 1838'C' EF $1,600.00

Extremely Fine in terms of wear and detail. Careful study reveals a light cleaning long ago and some edge irregularities. The visual impact of these characteristics is minimal and this example of 7,880 struck is highly pleasing overall. This Charlotte issue is the first Branch Mint date, and also the lowest mintage of the entire Classic Head series.
1153 1839'D' Blundered 9 EF $2,600.00

Extremely Fine. Wonderful overall detail results from a bold strike for this example of the first Dahlonega date. An older generation of collectors called this '1839/8', but this digit anomaly is now recognized as a defective date punch rather than a true overdate. Delightfully even golden color highlights the boldness of the details.
1154 1839'O' CH VF $800.00

Choice Very Fine or better. A solid, well balanced example. There are a few old inconspicuously placed marks that are not at all noticeable.
