Only 17 small size notes reported in the Census with this note new to the Census. A bank with very few auction appearances. 1161 CONNECTICUT. THE CITY NB OF SOUTH NORWALK. Ch.2643. $20.00. Fr.1802-1 CH VF $700.00 1929 Type 1. No.B000056A. Choice Very Fine with claims to a higher grade. Centered to the right, but the design does not touch the margin. Bright, colorful and very crisp for the grade. Only 19 small size notes reported in the Census with this note new to the Census. A difficult note to find which should bring spirited bidding for this example. 1162 CONNECTICUT. THE FNB OF STAMFORD. Ch.4. $1.00. Fr.383. Series of 1875 FC VERY CH CU $6,000.00 No.3591. Plate B. Very Choice Crisp Uncirculated. A truly phenomenal note that has tremendously wide margins, sharp corners and great color. The paper quality is excellent which gives this note marvelous eye appeal. The design comes close at the lower right, but otherwise well centered. The signatures are quite strong, giving this note even more desirability. Only three red seals are reported (see the next lot description) on this bank including the present note. Very Good, but has a slight edge tear at the left side. Colorful for the grade and well centered. A few central pinholes, but none that detract much. This is only the third red seal known on this bank with this note new to Census. There were no red seal twenties reported prior to the present note. Some light soiling on the left side fold, otherwise this note is wholesome and appealing. 2 pieces. 1167 CONNECTICUT. THE STAMFORD NATIONAL BANK. Ch.1038. $10.00. Fr.616. 1902DB VG $650.00 No.22683. Plate H. Very Good or nearly so. A very slight internal separation that is very difficult to find. The note is dirty, but the blue stamped signatures can be read. One of only 17 large size notes reported on this bank. A scarce note since this charter was liquidated in 1919 and the circulation was assumed by Charter 4. 1168 CONNECTICUT. THE PEOPLES NB OF STAMFORD. Ch.12400. $10.00. Fr.1801-1 VG $350.00 1929 Type 1. No.E001784A. Very Good. Decently centered with just some minor soiling as this note main defect. Only 23 small size notes reported in the Census with this note new to the Census. A difficult bank to acquire since it was chartered in 1923 and only lasted about ten years when it was liquidated in March of 1933. 1169 CONNECTICUT. THE STAFFORD NB OF STAFFORD SPRINGS. Ch.686. $2.00. Fr.387 G $6,500.00 1865 Original Series FC. No.1754. Plate A. Good or better, but the lower right corner including some of the design has been torn off. A few minor pinholes and some trivial edge splits do not detract that much. A rare bank with only five large size notes reported in the Census. However, none are Original Series $2.00 notes. Fine with some claims to a higher grade. Very well centered with mostly faded signatures. Crisp for the technical grade. One of only 14 large size notes reported in the Census. There has not been a large size note at auction from this bank for two years. Scarce and quite desirable. 1171 CONNECTICUT. THE FNB OF SUFFIELD. Ch.497. $5.00. Fr.587. 1902RS. No.994 F $6,500.00 Plate A. Fine. Well centered with excellent color. The signatures are strong, adding further to the appeal of this note. There are two trivial edge splits at the right edge. One of only ten large size notes reported in the Census. This is the only Red Seal known on the bank. A very pleasing note that has marvelous centering and great color. 2 pieces. 1174 CONNECTICUT. THE FNB OF WALLINGFORD. Ch.2599. $5.00. Fr.1800-1 VG $375.00 1929 Type 1. No.A002856A. Fine. No major problems to affect the eye appeal of this attractive note; $10.00. Fr.1801-1. 1929 Type 1. No.B001891A. Very Good. The upper left margin is cut a bit askew, but the other centering is quite decent. There are two tiny pinholes that do not detract much. 2 pieces. 1175 CONNECTICUT. THE FNB OF WALLINGFORD. Ch.2599. $50.00. Fr.1803-1 EF $850.00 1929 Type 1. No.E000147A. Extremely Fine with marvelous margins, great crispness and deep rich color. All these ingredients add up to a very attractive note that should be of intense interest to collectors since only three banks issued this denomination for the entire state. 1176 CONNECTICUT. Fr.1801-1. 1929 Type 1. No.B001756A. Fine. Well centered with attractive color. 2 pieces. 1177 CONNECTICUT. THE WINDHAM NB OF WILLIMANTIC. Ch.1614. $10.00. Fr.482 VG $900.00 1882BB. No.5831. Plate C. Very Good. Well centered with four excellent margins. A pair of paper clip rust stains, one at each end along with a few scattered pinholes. A sealed tear at the lower right corner. However, an attractive note nonetheless. This is the bank's second title which has only 29 large size notes reported in the Census including this one. 1178 CONNECTICUT. THE WINDHAM NB OF WILLIMANTIC. Only 29 large size notes reported in the Census with this note new to the Census. A new note to the census that is wholesome and quite attractive. 1184 ILLINOIS. THE NB OF THE REPUBLIC OF CHICAGO. Ch.4605. $10.00. Fr.1801-1 VG $175.00 1929. Type 1. No.D087240A. Very Fine. A well centered note with good color and with no major detractions; THE WASHINGTON PARK NB OF CHICAGO. Ch.3916. $10.00. Fr.1801-1. 1929 Type 1. No.F004079A. Very Good. Well centered, but the paper shows some extensive commercial usage. A small margin tear at the right. No.10137. Plate A. Fair with some pieces chipped off the edges. The note has been totally rebacked to restore as much strength to the note as possible. The centering is good and the signatures are readable. One of only 17 large size notes reported in the Census. A very scarce bank that is hard to find. Inspection is recommended. SOLD AS IS. NO RETURNS. 1186 ILLINOIS. THE WASHINGTON PARK NB OF CHICAGO. Ch.3916. $10.00. Fr.1801-1 EF $175.00 1929 Type 1. No.A004613A. Extremely Fine. Centered toward the top, but does not touch the design. Bright with good color. This is the third title of this bank of which only 31 small size notes have been reported in the Census with this note new to the Census. 1187 ILLINOIS. THE WILL COUNTY NB OF JOLIET. Ch.1882. $20.00. Fr.499. 1882BB VG $550.00 No.2441. Plate A. Very Good in terms of paper quality, but the note has been trimmed at the tight margin. The signatures are still there though they are hard to read. A few pinholes are present. Only 31 large size notes reported in the Census with this note new to the Census. An interesting ''1882'' series note on Charter 1882. 1188 ILLINOIS. LA SALLE NB AND TRUST COMPANY OF LA SALLE. Ch.2503. $10.00. Fr CH VF $130.00 1801-1. 1929. Type 1. No.B000928A. Choice Very Fine with great paper quality and color for the grade. The centering is excellent, giving this note further eye appeal. Although a common bank, this is the only bank in this town from which a note can be attained since the other two banks in town are unreported.
