The signatures are strong and the color is acceptable. One of only 16 large size notes known in the Census. There are only three 1882 date backs known from this bank, which further enhances the value of this note. 1340 PENNSYLVANIA. THE FARMERS NB OF BLOOMSBURG. Ch.4543. $5.00. Fr.471 VG $1,500.00 1882BB. No.8816. Plate D. Very Good with some edge splits and a left side margin tear. The color is good for the grade and the signatures are still readable. One of only two large size notes reported in the Census with this note being the only brown back. A very rare note from Columbia County that, despite its faults, is still quite desirable and should be heavily bid upon. 1341 PENNSYLVANIA. THE FNB OF CORRY. Ch.605. 5.00. Fr.397 F $1,200.00 1865 Original Series FC. No.1644. Plate C. Fine, but the lower left shows a tape repair on the back to close a rather large tear that nearly runs up to the top. The margins are cut close on the top and bottom. Only three notes known on this bank with this note new to the Census. Fr.1802-1 CU $650.00 Type 1. No.E000037A. Crisp Uncirculated with strong claims to the Choice category. Well centered with good color. One of only four small size notes reported in the Census. A very scarce note in marvelous condition that probably will command a strong price. Graded Crisp Uncirculated 62 by CGA. SOLD AS IS. NO RETURNS. 1343 PENNSYLVANIA. THE FNB OF MERCER. Ch.392. $50.00. Fr.675. 1902PB. No.2718 VG $1,000.00 Plate C. Very Good. Well centered. The signatures are gone. A small internal split at the fold junction. There are only nine large size notes reported in the Census including the present example. A usable note for the type collector looking for this tough denomination. 1344 PENNSYLVANIA. THE FOREST COUNTY NB OF TIONESTA. Ch.5038. $5.00. Fr.474 G $550.00 1882BB. No.931. Plate D. Good, perhaps a bit better. Well centered. The corners are rounded and the portrait is a bit worn. The signatures are strong. A few internal separations that are not that bad. One of only four large size notes reported in the Census. This brown back note is the only one known on the bank which, despite the problems, makes this note desirable. 1345 PENNSYLVANIA. THE FOURTH STREET NB OF PHILADELPHIA. Ch.3557. $5.00. Fr G $500.00 469. 1882BB. No.28221. Plate B. Fine or nearly so with excellent margins and good color for the grade. The signatures are bold and quite readable. A lovely type note for the budget-minded collector who is looking for a nice, problem-free example. 1346 PENNSYLVANIA. THE WILLIAMSPORT NB. Ch.1464. $100.00. Fr.689. 1902DB. No VG $1,250.00 2238. Plate C. Very Good. Some paper is worn off on the margin and at the lower left corner and some of the margin shows some chinks. The stamped signatures are strong. Some moderate soiling has taken place. One of only 15 large size notes reported in the Census. This is the second note of this type and denomination known. Though the grade is not exceptional, this is a very rare type note. 1347 SOUTH DAKOTA. THE RAPID CITY NB OF RAPID CITY. Ch.14099. $5.00. Fr.1800-2 VERY CH CU $325.00 1929 Type 2. No.A002903. Very Choice Crisp Uncirculated. Lovely centering and great color give this note wonderful eye appeal. A note that is desirable for two reasons: it is a 14000 charter number which are heavily collected and it is a South Dakota type note for the state. Graded by PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 Exceptional Paper Quality. SOLD AS IS. NO RETURNS. 1348 TEXAS. THE FNB OF DEL RIO. Ch.5294. $5.00 Fr.607. 1902PB. No.12608 VG $275.00 Plate C. Very Good with some glue-like deposits on the back. Close at the bottom right with the design cutting the margin at the corner. The signatures are missing, but the note still has some allure as the only town to have a bank that issued notes from Val Verde County. 1349 TEXAS. THE FNB OF KENEDY. Ch.12182. $20.00. Fr.661. 1902PB. No.4566 F $650.00 Plate A. Fine with some roughness at the top right corner. The purple stamped signatures are faded a bit, but readable. One of only ten large size notes reported in the Census. A scarce bank which only lasted ten years and had only $2,550 out in 1935. 1350 TEXAS. THE FNB OF LA GRANGE. Ch.3906. $20.00. Fr.1802-1. 1929 Type 1. No VG $275.00 D000196A. Very Good. An attractive note for the technical grade. A single pinhole below the portrait is this note's main detraction. Only 19 small size notes reported in the Census with this note new to the Census. A very difficult note to find from this one bank town. 1351 TEXAS. THE SAN ANGELO NB OF SAN ANGELO. Ch.3260. $20.00. Fr.1802-1 G $900.00 1929 Type 1. No.D000097A. Fine with excellent centering and good color for the grade. A pair of insignificant pinholes do not damage the eye appeal of this great note. One of only two small size notes reported in the Census. The other small size note is also a $20.00 type 1 and was last in a Lyn Knight sale back in August of 1997. THE CENTRAL NB OF BUCKHANN0N. Ch.13646. $5.00. Fr.1800-2 CH CU $500.00 1929 Type 2. No.A000002. Choice Crisp Uncirculated with very close ties to the Gem category. Marvelous paper quality and great color with strong embossing give this note wonderful eye appeal. Further amplifying the desirability of this note is the fact that it is a serial number 2. Crisp Uncirculated with some claims to the Choice category. Well centered with strong color. Some light soiling on the back is this note's main detraction. Choice Crisp Uncirculated. Respectable centering with excellent color and good paper quality. A new note to the Census which only includes one type 2 twenty in Very Fine condition. Plate G. Very Good. A typically soiled note for the grade that has the design cut into the margin at the top right. A couple of pinholes do not detract. Only 27 large size notes previously known on this bank with this note new to the Census. 1357 WEST VIRGINIA. THE UNION NB OF CLARKSBURG. Ch.7681. $10.00. Fr.624 VG $450.00 1902PB. No.65087. Plate H. A strong Fine. Well centered and with lightly stamped purple signatures. No major detractions to affect the eye appeal of this pleasing note; $20.00. Fr.650. 1902PB. No.52900. Plate C. Very Good. There are just a couple of insignificant pinholes that are barely worth mentioning. There are margins all around, although they are tight on the left and on the bottom. Ch.6302. $10.00. Fr.624. 1902PB. No F to VF $500.00 4754. Plate F. Fine to Very Fine. Well centered, excellent paper quality with well impressed signatures. A small stain on the back is this note's main problem. Only seven large size notes in the Census with this note new to the Census. Quite a difficult note to acquire in large size since the last time one was available was in a CAA sale in October 1998. 1361 WEST VIRGINIA. THE POINT PLEASANT NATIONAL BANK. Ch.5701. $5.00. Fr.607 VG $400.00 1902PB. No.165. Plate C. Very Good. Respectable centering, but the signatures are faded and are very hard to read. Good paper quality for the grade. Only ten large size notes in the Census with this note new to the Census. Scarce as this is the only town in Mason County that had any banks that issued notes. 1362 WEST VIRGINIA. THE FNB OF SALEM. Ch.7250. $10.00. Fr.624. 1902PB. No.7835 VF $500.00 Plate E. A strong Very Fine with excellent centering and good color for the grade. No major problems to affect the value of this note. The signatures are well done and quite readable. Only ten large size note reported in the Census with this note new to the Census and about the same grade as the only other plain back ten known. A great note from a difficult one bank town. 1363 WEST VIRGINIA. THE NATIONAL EXCHANGE BANK OF WESTON. Ch.1607. $10.00. Fr VF $250.00 625. 1902PB. No.7803. Plate F. Very Fine with some rust stains due to a paper clip. The signatures are well presented and the centering is quite even. Only 17 large size notes in the Census with this note new to the Census. This is the only town that had a bank that issued notes in Lewis County. 1364 WYOMING. THE ROCK SPRINGS NATIONAL BANK. Ch.4755. $10.00. Fr.628. 1902PB VG $950.00 No.8343. Plate C. Very Good in terms of paper quality, but the note has considerable aging and a minor centrally located pinhole.
