Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 1731 1799 Taraszka 19, Breen 4-E. AU $6,500.00 About Uncirculated in terms of physical wear but the obverse fields show evidence of being lightly tooled. There is also a tiny reverse rim bump at 6:00. The coin has greenish-gold toning over very well struck surfaces. There is still some lustre present on this specimen which gives a decent appearance. Liberty Head Eagles Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 1732 1861'S' CH AU $7,000.00 Choice About Uncirculated. The coin is well struck with frosty yellow-gold surfaces. The lustre is good for the grade and the surfaces have some light abrasion. A very rare date with only 15,500 pieces struck, many of which do not meet this coin's high quality. 1733 1882 AU $190.00 About Uncirculated, not far from Mint State. Very limited wear, some bagmarks and a copper spot on the rim below '82' define this lustrous coin. 1734 1889 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $2,500.00 An impressive example of this low mintage Eagle. Attractive yellow gold lustre enhances the razor sharp devices. Watery reflectivity adds to the charm. Only 4,485 struck. 1735 1892'CC' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $3,100.00 A handsome coin that combines boldness of strike with radiant surfaces. Examination reveals needle sharp details on both obverse and reverse. A charming amber patina creates a satisfying eye appeal. Exactly 40,000 pieces were struck of this date, and collectors of the coins of this popular branch mint have made high quality survivors difficult to locate. 1736 1892'O' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $2,800.00 The sharply appointed obverse is coupled with an orange-peel glow giving this coin claims to a higher status. The reverse is equally stunning in terms of detail and lustre. One of only 28,688 piece struck, few of which survive at this lofty Mint State grade. 1737 1892'O', 1893'S' CH AU $625.00 Choice About Uncirculated, both virtually in the Mint State category. Each of these nicely matched coins presents a wealth of red-gold lustre along with measurable obverse bagmarks. PCGS AU58. 2 pieces. 1738 1894'O' CH AU $330.00 Choice About Uncirculated. Close examination suggests that circulation is minimal but scattered bagmarks are rather more visible on this largely lustrous New Orleans coin, one of 25,000 struck. A handsome example destined for some significant collection. NGC AU58. 1739 1894'O' CH AU $210.00 Choice About Uncirculated. Here is a coin that is essentially Mint State but that shows evidence of lengthy bag storage. 1740 1893 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $180.00 No circulation is seen on this lustrous coin but the obverse is distinctly bagmarked. 1741 1895'O' CH AU $300.00 Choice About Uncirculated. Very substantial cartwheel lustre gives this virtually Mint State piece its marvelous visual quality, scarcely deterred by scattered bagmarks. NGC AU58. 1742 1896 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $1,100.00 - and virtually in the Choice category. A frosty red-gold example of this lower-mintage date boasting full strike and some inconspicuous field tics. PCGS MS62. 1743 1896'S' CH AU $500.00 Choice About Uncirculated. Careful study of this largely lustrous coin suggests that the grade was determined by bagmarks rather than by strict circulation. One of 49,000 struck in the era before U.S. coins were collected by mintmark as well as date. NGC AU58. 1744 1897'O' CH AU $360.00 Choice About Uncirculated, on the very cusp of higher grade. Bold peripheral lustre highlights an exacting strike, and the totally lustrous reverse is easily full Mint State. NGC AU58. 1745 1901 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $300.00 Rose-gold toning over sharply struck surfaces. Frosty. 1746 1901'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $800.00 Both obverse and reverse are fully struck and are accompanied with impressive mint lustre. There is an obverse lamination in the field just under star six that extends to the 'L' in LIBERTY. 1747 1902'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $750.00 - nearly of Choice quality. Lovely cartwheel surfaces with satiny lustre. A minimum amount of bagmarks gives this coin attractive eye appeal. PCGS MS62. 1748 1904 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $325.00 - and approaching a Choice distinction. An abundance of icy mint frost complements surface quality that is significantly better than the norm. 1749 1907 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $300.00 Deep yellow-golden fields and design features are aglow in rich velvet-like mint bloom. Akers calls this R-5 in this grade range. Fields and devices are covered in gorgeous satiny gold mint frost, accentuating a magnificent strike of exceptional fullness. The reverse shows a minor abrasion below 'A' in STATES and a faint hairline or two can be found with sufficient effort. It has long been believed that only 500 Wire Edge pieces were...  more 1751 1907 Indian. Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $3,750.00 - and with the first impression of a Gem coin. Wonderful satiny surfaces with greenish-gold toning. The lustre is deep and vibrant and the strike is sharp. A few subtle hairlines are all that keep this coin from the exalted grade of Gem. 1752 1907 No Periods. Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $4,000.00 Here is a lovely example of this classic St. Gaudens design. The surfaces are completely engulfed in frosty mint lustre and the strike is quite bold. This coin has an arresting visual appeal. 1753 1908'S' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $1,900.00 - and close to fully Choice. A pleasing and thoroughly detailed strike is drowned in deep yellow lustre with one or two wispy marks visible under a glass. As Akers noted, this San Francisco date is rare at all Mint State levels, and the present coin will fit smoothly into this date slot of any carefully chosen collection. 1754 1910 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $436.00 - with claims to Choice. Satiny mint blush bathes the surfaces of the pleasing example. The surfaces are honey gold and were impressed by a forceful strike. 1755 1910'D' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $680.00 - virtually Choice. Well struck and lustrous with nice lemon-gold toning. No major surface marks detract from this lovely coin. PCGS MS62. 1756 1910'D' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $525.00 - with the eye appeal of a higher grade. Nice frosty surfaces exhibit excellent lustre. Well struck. 1757 1911 CH AU $401.00 Choice About Uncirculated. There is just a trace of friction at the high points of the design. The surfaces are otherwise bright, even and entirely frosty. 1758 1914 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $800.00 - virtually Choice. Deep yellow-gold toning over nice, satiny surfaces. There is a minimal amount of bagmarks, none of which are too serious. Sharply struck. 1759 1914'D' AU $400.00 About Uncirculated. A virtually Mint State coin in terms of wear. However, close scrutiny reveals evidence of a gentle cleaning. 1760 1915'S' CH AU $1,500.00 Choice About Uncirculated. A pleasing amber patina covers gently worn devices.
