About Uncirculated. An entirely honest example with a strong strike, good color, and overall very pleasing eye appeal. Would make a great type coin. Apparently an early state of the obverse die without crack through date.

Extremely Fine. A bright and attractive specimen. The front is toned in spectacular iridescent shades of blue, The reverse, in contrast, is lighter gray in color with just a touch of pale champagne around the rims. The surfaces in the protected places are bright and reflective, giving the coin a definite flashy look.

Very Fine. Unusual gray and iridescent toning on the obverse, lighter on the back. This is a rare variety especially in Very Fine or better grade. There are a few light obverse rim bumps.

Strictly Choice Extremely Fine with some strong claims to About Uncirculated status. Both sides are wreathed around the periphery in iridescent blue leaving the centers coin silver gray in color. There is ample original Mint lustre in the protected areas of the obverse. The center of the obverse is fairly strong with most curls separate. The eagle's breast feathers are rounded but its...  more

Very Fine. Pale gray color on both sides is accented by light gold around the obverse rim and pale blue around the reverse rim. Some old scratches visible under the obverse toning.

Choice Very Fine. A variety that really has to be graded from the back as the obverse die was dished and never struck up well. The front is soft but the center of the reverse and the eagle's wings are sharp and bold, justifying the grade. Both sides are light gray in the center, the obverse having iridescent blue around the rim.
83 1803 High 3. B.5 (R-3) CH VF $3,250.00
1803 High 3. B.5 (R-3). Choice Very Fine. The obverse is toned in iridescent blue around the rim,...
Choice Very Fine. The obverse is toned in iridescent blue around the rim, light gray and gold in the center. The reverse is a pleasing uniform steel gray. A few light rim tics are the only detriments requiring mention.
