Light battleship gray surfaces exhibit tinges of blue and rose, with lighter gray highlighting the highest points of Miss Liberty and the eagle. Surfaces are problem-free, exhibiting only the usual marks associated with general circulation. The characteristic blob-like die break is noted connecting the first obverse star to the rim at the 6:00 position. Extremely Fine. 4 pieces. 2231 1842 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $500.00 This obverse shows a centered, level date, the reverse displays a die crack linking the right stem to the dentils below. Pale orange-gold toning amplifies the beauty of the smooth silver fields and crisp devices. 2232 1847 CH EF $140.00 Choice Extremely Fine. Very well struck and exhibiting a touch of lustre beneath mottled russet-gray toning. 2233 1849 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $250.00 - in strict terms of wear, but careful study finds traces of a past skillful cleaning. The obverse shows a high and level date, reverse die crack crosses the 'A' in STATES. Tawny golden centers contrast boldly with pale sea-green at the sharp rims to produce outstanding visual appeal. A die scratch links the right bow to the wreath stem on this distinctive reverse. 2235 1853 Arrows CH AU $325.00 Choice About Uncirculated and only a wisp away from full Mint State. Lovely silver frost is laved in clear, glowing gold toning covering the smooth fields and meticulous reliefs. Reverse displays fine, rambling die cracks under the prevailing frosty lustre. 2242 1876 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $400.00 - with the superficial look of still higher grade. The date slopes slightly upward, and the reverse wreath shows a tiny die defect on the inner central corn ear. Generally luxuriant velvet mint bloom is complemented by tantalizing areas of peripheral lilac and gold. 2243 1877 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $200.00 - and on the cusp of the Choice classification. The date slopes upward, and bold die clash is evident on either side. Tobacco-gold at the peripheries lightens to pale gold at the centers for obvious visual appeal. This obverse must be characterized as fully Choice. 2244 1882 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $200.00 This obverse displays a distinctive date with '2' showing both a broken top and a microscopic die defect right of the ball. Flawless silver frost slumbers under the most delicate gold with deeper champagne hugging the rims. 2245 1882 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $175.00 The upper loop of the '2' in the date arrears broken. Semi-reflective fields and generally silver devices contrast boldly with this coin's olive-russet peripheral toning for the most remarkable appeal. 2246 1884 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $130.00 Semi-prooflike surface under a bluish hue. 2247 1885 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $125.00 A tiny obverse die dot can be found in the lower field to the left of '1' in the date. Notable clash marks are to be seen on either side, as well as some light cracks in the wreath on the reverse. Some faint obverse hairlines are muted by this coin's colorful russet and mauve periphery. 2248 1886 CH AU $60.00 Choice About Uncirculated. Gray, lilac and gold tones bathe this coin's lustrous surfaces. Head detail is typically weak. 2249 1887'S' CH AU $200.00 Choice About Uncirculated with full mint frost giving the visual quality of full Mint State. First 'S' in STATES shows only a partial upper loop, and a fine die line is seen in the lower loop of the reverse mintmark. Marvelously bold lustre places this coin in a category by itself. 2250 1888'S' CH AU $170.00 Choice About Uncirculated, bordering on Mint State. Heavy re-engraving is visible in the left obverse legend, reverse mintmark is high and unusually well centered under the bow. Hints of tobacco-gold at the rims joins pervasive clear lighter gold toning. 2251 1890 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $225.00 - with claims to the Choice category. Bright semi-reflective fields draw attention to the crisply detailed design features. Only the slightest trace of glowing gold can be seen at the rims. Perfect reverse die state.
