Lot # Description Grade Hammer Price 2048 1794 Sheldon 20b (R-4+). Head of 1793. Edge of 1794 VG-8 $425.00 Very Good-8 details. Olive-brown surfaces show some hints of red from an old cleaning. The date is bold and all legends can be made out. Unfortunately the surfaces of this example are heavily corroded. An affordable specimen of this scarce Red Book type. 2049 1794 S.20b (R-4+). Head of 1793. Edge of 1794 G-6 $410.00 Good-6 details. The date is clear and the head has enough detail to be clearly identifiable. The reverse has little detail, but the dentilation is strong. Unfortunately the surfaces are quite rough and mostly charcoal gray in color. 2050 1794 S.20b (R-4+). Head of 1793. Edge of 1794 G-4 $390.00 Good-4 details. This example shows a brown and olive color scheme. The head and date are strong, but the reverse has only light details except for the bold dentils. The surfaces display moderate corrosion throughout. A scarce variety. 2051 1794 S.43 F-12 $65.00 With the obverse details approaching that of a Fine-12 coin it is hindered by a series of porous encrustations. A pleasing coin with good surfaces, but possibly recolored; 1832 Very Fine-35. A smooth and attractive coin with problem-free surfaces. 3 pieces. 2053 1798 S.161. Wide Date, 9 8 AG-3 $120.00 About Good-3. This fascinating dark brown piece shows most of the date, reverse legend and the bold rim break over 'TATES' contrasting with weakly struck centers; 1811 S.287. Fair-2. Date and reverse legend are legible, an old scratch or two can be found. 2 pieces. 2054 1803 S.243. 'Bald Spot' over 1, No Stems VF-35 $85.00 Very Fine-35 in terms of wear. Medium brown surfaces show some obverse marks, the reverse has old residue near the center. 2055 1807 S.275. Small Wide Date, R far from Hair VF-30 $100.00 Very Fine-30 sharpness, but surfaces are granular with traces of an old reverse deposit. Normal and appropriate wear and generally granular surfaces distinguish this Classic Head piece. 2057 1810 S.281 VF-30 $220.00 Very Fine-30 details evident despite minor surface pitting. The overdate clearly shows. 2058 1810 S.284 (R-3) G-4 $160.00 Good-6. This coin has granular surfaces and is struck just a hair off center, but not enough to affect any of the devices; 1812 S.289 Good-4. A medium brown example with just light porosity; 1821 Newcomb 2. Good-4. A smooth example that shows signs of contact. 3 pieces. 2059 1811/0 S.286 VG-8 $95.00 Very Good-8. Wear is remarkably even, a glass finds a few ancient toned-over scratches. 2060 1811/0 S.286 AG-3 $60.00 About Good-3. Reverse detail is quite clear, both sides are dark brown. 2061 1811/0 S.286 VG-8 $200.00 Fine-12. The overdate is clearly visible, but there are spots of rust colored verdigris; 1811 S.287. Very Good-8. A few tics are found as would be expected, still the coin is quite nice for the assigned grade. 2 pieces. 2062 1812 S.290 VF-20 $275.00 Very Fine-20. Likely to have been softly cleaned on the obverse years ago. No major marks worthy of note. 2063 1813 S.293 VF-25 $230.00 Very Fine-25. A few ancient scrapes through the obverse though now blending well into the background. 2064 1813 F-15 $180.00 Fine-15, 1814 Plain 4. S.295. Good-6. The first coin has pleasing surfaces and detail, but with several dull edge dings and an obverse field scuff. The second coin shows some striking weakness but is respectable for the grade. 2 pieces. (R-3) VF-20 $180.00 Good-4 13 stars; 1817 N.16. Very Fine-20. Surfaces enhanced. 15 stars; 1818 N.7. Fine-15. Quite a bit of minor scratching around the devices; 1819 N.5. Very Fine-20. Heavy surface pitting. 4 pieces. 2066 1817 N.16. 15 Stars, Blunt 1's VG-10 $70.00 Very Good-10. Olive-brown surfaces show normal circulation, the reverse is rotated some 90 degrees for added interest. 2067 1817 N.16. 15 Stars EF-40 $260.00 Very Good-8. Surface corrosion; 1825 N.1. (R-4). Fine-12. Porosity; 1826 N.5. Very Fine-20. Color unnaturally lightened; 1831 N.12. Very Fine-20. Numerous surfaces tics. An early die state; 1837 N.9. Very Fine-20. A bit dark; 1840 N.4. (R-3+). Very Fine-35. Wiped many years ago, now with a bluish tint forming; 1853 N.14. Extremely Fine-40. With artificial red added to the obverse. 7 pieces. 2068 1818 N.5 EF-40 $90.00 Extremely Fine-40 or somewhat better in terms of actual wear. Dark glossy brown with very sharp devices, a number of tiny rim bruises appear on either side. 2069 1818 N.6 VG-10 $25.00 Very Good-10. Glossy ebony surfaces show reasonable wear, rims show scattered bumps. 2070 1819 N.8. Small Date, Stars Distant VF-30 $50.00 Very Fine-30. Highly pleasing tan-brown fields complement bold devices. A glass finds a few scattered tics. 2071 1821 N.2 EF-40 $575.00 Fine-15. The color has been lightened a touch on the reverse; 1822 N.5. (R-3) Fine-12. Numerous old scratches; 1823/2 N.1.
