Wilbur Auction & Commission Merchant, 1846. Brass, 27.7mm. Obv. Standing auctioneer wields hammer. Rev. Palmetto. It is believed that W.W. Wilbur auctioned slaves, as Charleston was a noted center of the slave trade and trade in slaves after trans-oceanic shipment was outlawed.
