Toned with iridescent blue and gold peripheral toning on both sides, rich golden hues to the centers. A later die state with a rim break below the date, die cracks through the '1' and rocky base, another horizontally from the rim through upper point of star twelve toward Liberty's elbow. Some unfortunate light scratches behind the eagle's head are noted. Still and all, a highly attractive example for the date or type collector.

Ex The Queller Family Collection of Half Dollars (Stack's, October 2002, lot 534); Stack's March 1984 Sale, lot 688.
