 1913 Gem Matte Proof, essentially Superb. A partial wire rim encloses the smoothest, subtly tan-gold surfaces displaying a faint hint of red. Devices are jewel-sharp and wholly pleasing. One of 2,848 Proofs struck, and certainly one of the finest surviving examples seen today of an early date all too often found cleaned or mishandled.
