The reverse wreath exhibits high inside leaves at the base of the 'C' and 'T' in CENT. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated with claims to a Gem distinction. Subtle satin semi-reflectivity in the fields complements sharp wreath and feather definition. Large Letters, Overdate. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $10,500.00 - and near-Choice. The entire top of the '7' is crisp and clear, high and slightly to the right of the '8'. Surfaces are suffused with gold and blue-steel at the obverse center. The strike is somewhat variable as often seen on this early date. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $200.00 Attractive red and brown surfaces that are nearly mark-free. Somewhat softly struck on the feathers, otherwise a very decent coin. 1933 1864-L. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $600.00 A nearly full mint red example that is quite attractive. Well struck and certainly worthy of a closer inspection. 1934 1869 Normal Date. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $420.00 A pleasing reddish-brown coin that is well struck with nicely preserved surfaces. 1935 1870 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $475.00 - nearly Choice. A nice red and brown mix with much mint color still remaining. A decent strike adds to the appeal of this scarce date. 1936 1873 Closed 3. Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $2,400.00 Brick-red toning that is starting to mellow a bit. A few facial tics, none that serious. A scarce variety that is well struck and lustrous. PCGS MS65RB. 1937 1877 CH AU $3,250.00 Choice About Uncirculated. The color is a faded mint red with some light porosity adhering to the surfaces. The strike is strong and gives this coin a decent appearance. Scarce. 1938 1879 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $200.00 - and on the cusp of full Gem. Attractive reflective fields with light coppery red toning. Well struck and quite nice for the grade. 1939 1883 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $55.00 Satiny surfaces over very well struck surfaces. Some light blue iridescent toning over mostly brown surfaces; 1916 Lincoln Cent. Brilliant Uncirculated. Pleasing rose gold toning. 2 pieces. 1940 1894 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $120.00 - despite some spotting. Nearly full mint red over nicely struck surfaces. Some moderate spotting is visible. 1941 Partial Set of Flying Eagle and Indian Head Cents 1857-1909 VF to BU $2,400.00 This set is missing the following: 1858 Large Letters, 1861, 1866, 1869, 1869/9, 1871, 1877 and 1909'S'. The grade ranges from Very Fine to Brilliant Uncirculated. Many have been cleaned and recolored but there are still a number of nice wholesome coins included. 1872 is lightly scratched Extremely Fine and exhibits a clearly repunched '2'. A lovely red example; 1910 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated. A bit subdued, but mostly red; 1911 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated. An attractive red coin. 4 pieces. 1943 1909 V.D.B., 1918'S', 1920, 1924, 1925'D', 1926 BU to CH BU $180.00 1927 Brilliant Uncirculated to Choice Brilliant Uncirculated. The Denver mint coin is brown, but the rest of this lot show some degree of mint red color. 7 pieces. 1944 1909'S' V.D.B. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $1,200.00 This example is mostly red with some minute light spots. A well struck example with good mint lustre. 1945 1909'S' V.D.B. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $1,100.00 - in terms of wear. Here is a bright red coin that shows hairlines from a past cleaning. Even with the appearance of possible lacquering, the coin has an attractive arms length look. 1946 1909'S' V.D.B. CH VF $675.00 Choice Very Fine. Chestnut brown with deeper mahogany toned peripheries. The coin is well struck with full separation in the lines of the upper wheat stalks. 1947 1909 Very Choice Matte Proof VERY CH MTE PF $600.00 - on the cusp of full Gem. Wonderfully smooth fields, substantial glowing red adds to the coin's bold eye appeal. This example is perhaps only a microscopic freckle or two from a higher grade. One of 2,198 Proofs struck without V.D.B. 1948 1909'S' Brilliant Uncirculated, 1910'S' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $325.00 Both coins are a satisfying pale red and brown color. A pleasing pair of early San Francisco issue Lincoln cents. 2 pieces. 1949 1910 Very Choice Matte Proof VERY CH MTE PF $500.00 A virtual Gem displaying needle-sharp strike and detail, especially crisp inner rims. Deep brown surfaces glow with tantalizing faded red for added visual impact. One of 2,405 Proofs struck. 1950 1911 Gem Matte Proof GEM MTE PF $550.00 Meticulously struck and fully detailed, this coin boasts smooth light brown-gold surfaces with a single deeper toning spot below 'U' of UNITED. Here is a splendid example of a Proof mintage of 1,733 pieces. 1951 1911'D' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $170.00 The obverse is virtually full red, but the reverse has toned down considerably. The hair details and wheat stalks are quite sharply struck. A premium quality coin. 1952 1911'S' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $280.00 This specimen is nearly full red, especially at the obverse. A pleasing example that is tougher to locate in high grades. 1953 1912 Choice Matte Proof CH MTE PF $600.00 This coin's smooth fields and devices glow with abundant obverse red, the reverse is distinctly more golden for fascinating visual contrast. 2,145 Proofs were struck. 1954 1912 Brilliant Uncirculated, 1913 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $165.00 1914 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated. All three of these pleasing coins are mostly red in color. An attractive trio. 3 pieces. 1955 1912'D' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated GEM BU $500.00 A lustrous bright red specimen. A toning streak is noted in Mr. Lincoln's hair. A coin that would be difficult to improve upon. 1956 1912'S' Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $200.00 The obverse is a flashy bright red, while the reverse is toned to a pinkish golden shade. 1957 1913 Gem Matte Proof GEM MTE PF $600.00 - essentially Superb. A partial wire rim encloses the smoothest, subtly tan-gold surfaces displaying a faint hint of red. Devices are jewel-sharp and wholly pleasing. One of 2,848 Proofs struck, and certainly one of the finest surviving examples seen today of an early date all too often found cleaned or mishandled. 1958 1913'D' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $180.00 This example shows a needle-sharp strike.
