1843 Breen 5430. Thin-serif 1, Recut 4. Brilliant Uncirculated. Exceptional prooflike glitter distinguishes this meticulously struck example. Some tawny gold hugs the outer dentils and rim, diagnostic die file lines can be found in the ''white'' stripes of the reverse shield. All Mint State grades of this date are elusive to downright rare, as the 1843 mintage actually circulated quite extensively. A tic or two keep this pleasing coin from a higher grade.
