1870'CC' Wide 'CC.' Brilliant Uncirculated with some claims to a higher grade. This obverse shows the '1' positioned to the right of the shield point, '7' is above the space between two denticles. The reverse shows a wide 'C C', a tiny spike extends up to the left from a denticle under the left foot of 'L' in DOL. This Carson City date is amazing in its two obverse and five reverse die varieties, considering that only 11,758 piece were struck for the entire year. Bright silver reliefs stand out from lightly hairlined fields that are haloed in gold around the denticles. Here is a thoroughly satisfying example of a true key to the Liberty Seated Dollar series, eagerly sought in all grades by determined collectors.
