1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller 33.39-s.1 (R-4). Draped Bust Left. Brown Uncirculated. 149.3 grains. Deep chestnut brown surfaces are wholly free of pesky carbon flecks or laminations and exhibit rich mint lustre on both sides. Well struck overall, the globe beneath the reverse effigy displays its lines of latitude and longitude while the very highest points of the devices show only trifling weakness for a Connecticut copper. The obverse is centered a touch toward the right, while the reverse is perceptibly off center toward the right. Both dies show advanced wear but have held up nicely, remaining wholly free of die cracks or breaks. Ford's 33.39-s.1 was a remarkable Choice Unc, and this problem-free specimen is not far behind in eye appeal. Here is a specimen that will find a welcoming home in the collection of a discerning colonial type or variety collector.
Accompanied by a collector envelope and old square collector's ticket.
