1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller 33.39-Z.20 (Rarity-7). Draped Bust Left. 120.7 grains. Very Good or better in terms of wear. Deep tannish brown on the devices and legends, the fields are dark with deposits and advanced porosity. Some ancient tool marks and scuffs in the fields are noted for the sake of completeness but do not seriously detract from the overall appeal of this well used, very rare Connecticut copper variety. When the Perkins (2000) specimen was offered by Stack's, Mike Hodder enumerated seven pieces, three of which are permanently impounded in institutional collections. This new specimen, received unattributed in a consignment, represents an addition to Hodder's listing and is an opportunity for the variety specialist to acquire a respectable example of this coveted Miller variety.
