 1889 Gem Brilliant Proof. The front of this piece is a gorgeous rich mauve with a touch of color on Liberty's head. The back is light gold on the rim, bright white in the center. The devices are nicely frosty and the fields show deep mirror brilliance. A small scuff in the left obverse field is noted. Only 711 Proofs were struck in this low business strike mintage year.
