 1872 Brilliant Proof with claims to the Choice category. Nicely toned with blue and copper hues in the fields, deeper near the devices. Ample contrast to please the eye and the surfaces are attractive despite minor hairlines in the fields. The original mintage of 950 pieces is about average for the era, but the Seated Dollar design was about to be changed, limiting the number of available coins for the future collectors who need an example of the type.
