1884 Repunched Date. Very Choice Brilliant Proof. The '1' of the date is sharply recut low, and traces of recutting are seen on the other digits, but they are far less dramatic. Light yellow hints over the reflective surfaces. Examination will find two peripheral fly specks on the obverse and some trivial hairlines. Although noted to be ''rare'' in Breen's Encyclopedia, further study is recommended since it is possible that many examples exist as the dies show no outward signs of deterioration.
