 1881 Very Choice Brilliant Proof. Excellent quality for the grade, with no fly specks or hairlines readily apparent. The strike is full and sharp. Although the Proof issues are available with 3,575 struck, the 1881 is a very low mintage for circulation strikes with a scant 68,000 produced. Thus most date collectors end up with a Proof specimen to represent this date in their collections.
