1855 $20.00. Kellogg & Co. Short Arrowheads. K.3a/b. Breen 7920. About Uncirculated or thereabouts. Rich wheat gold surfaces display little actual wear but rather exhibit the signs of extensive loose storage with other coins, leaving numerous small bagmarks on both sides. This fate was not uncommon to these workhorse early California gold coins. Surfaces were lightly wiped and brightened in the past, but the overall appeal and charm of this Gold Rush era coin is quite great. Here is an example that is a good impression of the dies and that will please the collector seeking this historic type.
