MCMVII (1907) Roman Numerals, High Relief. About Uncirculated in strict terms of wear. Lovely, orange-gold surfaces are quite brilliant and glossy, with hints of glowing, light lustre in the protected areas of the designs and lettering. The surface quality is consistent with previous jewelry use, with many fine tics on all sides, including the edge. This coin probably started out as a Wire Rim, but the rims have since been filed down, possibly to be mounted in a bezel. There are also some subtle tool marks at the 3:00 position on the reverse. Despite its past utilitarian life, this wonderful High Relief boasts an appeal that rivals some higher grade coins.
