 1891 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated. Original frosty gold surfaces with semi-prooflike reflectivity in the fields. The surfaces are remarkable as so few signs of handling are present, with no significant scuffs or nicks that impair the frost. This coin has been held in a collection for many years and has managed to remain quite pristine. Both dies show evidence of clashing, with the wings outlined in the fields near Liberty, and her head and profile are present around the eagle. A very scarce date with 61,307 pieces struck for circulation. Few of those remain in Uncirculated grades, particularly so in the lofty grade seen here. Here is a coin that is certain to delight the specialist who demands quality and originality.
