1806/4 Breen 1 (R-4). About Uncirculated in terms of wear. This bright, orange-gold coin exhibits little actual wear, with flashes of lustre in the protected areas in and around the devices. The majestically designed design motifs exhibit the usual weak central strike of the issue, with greater detail in evidence toward the peripheries of both sides. The surfaces have been lightly wiped and are peppered by many tiny marks on both sides. In addition, the left obverse field has been noticeably smoothed in the past. Here is a coin that, despite its few shortcomings, is a very good representative of the entire 1796-1807 type, and only approximately 1,136 pieces were struck of this particular overdate.
