There is evidence of repunching just below the tops of each numeral in the date. Choice Extremely Fine or better and retaining more than its share of mint frost on both the obverse and reverse. This specimen is quite bright, and exhibits only a modest amount of friction for a coin within this grade range. In fact, the reverse of this coin is fully About Uncirculated. Breen lists this variety as ''very rare'', and we have no doubt that he is accurate as this date as a whole is certainly rare in and of itself! Only 25,000 pieces were minted of which only a small fraction of 1% have managed to survive.

Ex Metropolitan New York Convention/ L.A.Keepe Sale (New England Rare Coin Galleries, March 25, 1982, lot 2235).
