One of 1,400 struck, first medal made of pure Niobium. Known in the U.S. as Columbium, this rare metal was once promoted by Joe Segel of the Franklin Mint as a key component of a proprietary alloy intended to replace Silver in U.S. coinage in the early 1960's.
