Rich, yellow-gold surfaces exhibit hints of deeper orange in the lustrous, protected areas of the devices, especially on the reverse. The surfaces, particularly on the obverse, have been noticeably hairlined, and Miss Liberty's cheek has been smoothed in an attempt to remove marks that had been in that area. Additional inspection reveals that the rims have been filed. Here is a well-detailed and still acceptable specimen of this early Quarter Eagle.
