 1882 Gem Brilliant Proof. Glass-smooth mirror fields and needle-sharp obverse devices are laved in iridescent blue with a touch of understated peach near the boldly squared rims. The glittering reverse is largely tawny orange-gold for spectacular effect. This extraordinary coin must be among the finest examples available today of a Proof mintage of 1,097. Finding a finer specimen would be a task for even the most determined seeker.
