Autographed Check on the Office of Discount Bank of [the] United States, 1832, signed by Andrew Jackson. Seventh President of the United States. A check for $100.00 drawn on the Office of the Bank of the United States, Washington dated Sept. 10, 1832. The drawn while in office. A sharply accomplished check in ''Old Hickory's'' hand and with a touch of irony. In five years Jackson would be at war with the Third Bank of the United States and watch over a financial panic that swept the country. That panic subjected him and Martin Van Buren to much lampooning in the press and on satirical style ''shinplaster'' notes. Bright and vivid with a bold signature. Hammer cancel in the center, partly touching the signature. Corner mounted to a display board.
