A glass reveals that the surfaces, especially at the lower obverse and reverse, exhibit a bit of planchet roughness, which is not unusual for the planchet quality seen on this Charlotte mint issue. This specimen is pale gold in tone and would be a coup for a collector seeking a high grade survivor of just 9,803 struck of this date. High grade specimens are quite rare, and given that this is the only Type 2 Charlotte mint date, it is eagerly sought by both date and type collectors alike.
