Premium quality yellow-golden fields and design features are drenched in velvet-satin mint bloom. The obverse hair definition, furthermore, is particularly sharp. 3068 1849 Open Wreath. Large Head, 'L' on truncation. Brilliant Uncirculated BU $600.00 - with claims to Choice. Scintillating mint frost defines this rich canary gold specimen. A glass reveals a tiny scratch at 6:00 on the reverse. The obverse is Breen's ''Large Head'' defined by the coronet peak pointing midway between the stars. 3069 1849 Open Wreath. Plentiful mint frost of a rich sunset gold hue further defines this wonderful first year of issue specimen. 3072 1849 Closed Wreath. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $650.00 A second. Magnification reveals an unusually sharply struck coin. The obverse fields display mild reflectivity surrounding the impressive central device. The reverse is very bold. 3073 1849 Closed Wreath EF $100.00 A third. Extremely Fine. A rich honey gold coin with minimal wear. A glass reveals some short scratches near the lower right rim of the obverse. 3074 1849'C' Closed Wreath AU $2,000.00 About Uncirculated. Rich honey-gold surfaces exhibit frosty lustre clinging to the devices. A lovely example of this difficult to locate issue. This coin is certainly better than is usually encountered and is above average for the assigned grade. PCGS AU50. 3075 1849'O' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $1,200.00 - virtually Choice. A crisp strike reveals some weakness only at the dead center of this charming, orange-gold toned specimen. Surfaces are quite lustrous on this first year of Gold Dollar issue from the New Orleans mint. 3076 1849'O' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $325.00 A second. Pale green-gold toning over strongly struck surfaces. Nice lustre gives this coin additional charm. 3077 1850'C' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $6,500.00 A high grade example of this early, low mintage Charlotte issue. Only 6,966 were struck. This specimen is deeply toned in a rich, yellow gold shade. The fields are mostly clear. The 1850'C' is a very tough date to locate in almost any grade but especially so this nice. Described by the late Abe Kosoff as ''Exceptionally sharp - a gem.'' 3078 1850'O' CH AU $2,500.00 Choice About Uncirculated, essentially Mint State. Here is an extremely well struck specimen of this second New Orleans Gold Dollar featuring extremely intricate detail in the hair and wreath. Lustre is bold and fresh, and just a touch of wear in the fields and at the high points is all that separates this very underrated branch mint scarcity from a full Mint State grade. 3079 1851 AU $135.00 A strong About Uncirculated or better specimen and exhibiting an ample amount of frosty mint lustre. Only a few very trivial marks can be discerned under close scrutiny. 3080 1851 CH AU $320.00 Choice About Uncirculated, nearly Mint State. Full mint lustre is joined by a hint of friction in the fields and on the high points; 1857 Choice About Uncirculated. Light friction joins enticing yellow-gold mint lustre. 2 pieces. 3081 1851'C' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $2,200.00 - or virtually so. Deeply prooflike fields surround boldly and crisply struck devices for intense eye appeal on this third issue of the 'C' mint Gold Dollars. A glass reveals the slightest hint of brief circulation to the high points on this gorgeous, rich wheat gold specimen. About Uncirculated and a strong example of the grade. Greenish-gold surfaces are made up of boldly impressed devices and gently reflective fields. Nearly Mint State in terms of wear, but lightly wiped in the past, with a few stray marks in the fields. 3083 1852 CH AU $300.00 Choice About Uncirculated. Glowing mint frost abounds in the protected areas of this gently worn, yellow-gold specimen; 1853 Choice About Uncirculated, nearly Mint State. Boldly struck with glowing salmon gold lustre and some very slight circulation to the high points. 2 pieces. 3084 1853 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $1,300.00 Rich orange-gold mint frost of some intensity bathes this fresh and superbly original specimen. Well struck and featuring bold, high rims and finely detailed hair strands. A small, circular mint made struck through at 10:00 on the obverse serves to hallmark this beautiful type coin. 3085 1853 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $800.00 - virtually Choice. A second. Here is a coin boasting an intensity of amber, copper and gold tones for ultimate beauty. Lustre is similarly bold and frosty, and the strike is quite good for a Philadelphia mint emission. A premium quality coin that is sure to please. 3086 1853 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $1,000.00 - with claims to Choice. A third. Fields are aglow with intense yellow-gold mint frost and a touch of coppery toning on the reverse. Strike is bold for the issue and the surfaces are generally free of all but the most minor of marks. 3087 1853 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $170.00 - or a degree finer. A fourth. Abundant lustre amplifies the appeal of a bold strike, a couple of obverse die cracks hallmark this pleasing example. NGC MS61. 3088 1853 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $160.00 A fifth. This lemon yellow jewel radiates a wealth of frosty mint bloom for an exquisite look. 3089 1853 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $160.00 A sixth. Here is a coin offering just a whisper of orange-rose toning. The underlying surfaces enjoy a generous amount of frosty mint bloom. 3090 1853 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $150.00 A seventh. Evenly struck and quite lustrous. With the exception of a very shallow reverse mark in the upper left field, this coin is free of any detractions that require mention. 3091 1853 CH AU $100.00 An eighth. Choice About Uncirculated and just bordering on the Mint State category. Fully lustrous and well balanced in every respect. 3092 1853 CH EF $210.00 Easily a strong About Uncirculated example with claims to a higher grade. There is a trace of rose that accents rich mint frost; 1854 Choice Extremely Fine, approaching About Uncirculated. Very well struck and featuring glowing orange-gold lustre. 2 pieces. 3093 1853'O' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $200.00 - in terms of actual wear. Surfaces have taken on an antique, brassy tone from a past light cleaning. Some light scrapes are noted on the bold, high rims. 3094 1854 Choice Brilliant Uncirculated CH BU $150.00 - or virtually so. Golden, coruscating mint frost defines this well struck example of the final Type 1 Gold Dollar date. Surfaces are virtually free of any distracting marks, making this coin a perfect piece for a type set. 3095 1854 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $300.00 - virtually Choice. A second. Rich yellow gold lustre is complemented with vibrantly struck details. A small obverse copper spot is hardly a detraction. NGC MS62 PITTMAN. 3096 1854 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $160.00 - with claims to Choice. A third. Well struck and boasting beautiful orange-gold mint frost of quite some intensity.
