1786 New Jersey Copper. Maris 12-G (R-4). No Coulter. Medal Turn. 143.2 gns. Very Good. Smooth and glossy surfaces are chocolate brown in the fields and lighter brown on the devices and legends. There are some subtle planchet flakes at the centers of both sides, and there is some weakness at the rims around CAESAREA and PLURIBUS. The No Coulter is one of the major design variants in the NJ series, and nearly every No Coulter is an R-5 or higher. The Maris 12-G is the most ''collectible'' of all No Coulters, and the present specimen is quite appealing and problem-free.
