1786 New Jersey Copper. Maris 14-J. Rahway Mint. 148.4 gns. Very Fine or better in terms of wear. Surfaces are golden brown with touches of olive and deeper chestnut hues in the areas hugging the devices and legends. Light planchet flaws pepper both sides but are not terribly troublesome. An old scratch is noted around the horse's head. Struck from the late state of the obverse die, which is sinking severely in the center and is boldly cracked through the date.
