Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $2,500.00 An exceptional strike shows needle-sharp detail in both shield and rays, free of the die cracks that this complex design encouraged. Smooth silvery surfaces display the faintest hazy whitish toning. A splendid choice for either Type or date collection. 2599 1867 Rays CH BU $1,400.00 A sharply struck Choice Brilliant Uncirculated specimen that exhibits claims to a Gem distinction. This premium quality, nicely frosted coin enjoys outstanding definition for an example of this scarce two-year type. 2600 1867 Rays BU $275.00 A strong, handsome Brilliant Uncirculated or better specimen. Frosty lustre is accented by a delicate hint of olive-golden toning. The reverse strike is much sharper than normally encountered on this issue. 2601 1870 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $300.00 The pleasing coin offers a lovely contrast of its subtly frosted devices with the deep mirror fields on which they appear to float. A couple of exceedingly small freckles keep this delightful coin from a higher grade, but these are fewer than generally encountered. Here is a pleasing coin for Type or date collector. 2602 1872 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $500.00 There is a trivial speck or two, otherwise the surface quality of this pale golden example approaches perfection. Needle-sharp, frosty devices float in smooth satin-mirror fields. Full Gem examples such as the coin offered here certainly warrant a premium, as the surviving population of this date within the grade range in question is only a fraction of that of any common date. NGC PF65. 2603 1873 Closed 3. Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $325.00 A precise strike creates the deeply frosted devices that give this delightful coin its excellent eye appeal. The color is steel gray over intensely deep ''watery'' mirror fields. Here is a very attractive Proof that is certain to attract both serious attention and spirited bidding. 2604 1875 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $550.00 Essentially spotless silver surfaces exhibit a strong reflective gleam on this later-date Proof strike. One of 700 struck, and a virtual Gem in overall visual appeal. 2605 1882 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $550.00 - and just on the cusp of the Gem category. The reverse is easily Gem. The obverse reveals only a few insignificant microscopic specks. Pale olive-gold toning complements fully struck satin-mirror surfaces. One of 3100 such proofs struck of this date. The surface quality of this assertive, silky-mirrored specimen approaches perfection. Of the 3942 proofs minted, only a small fraction can rival the quality of this example. 2607 1886 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $500.00 Gleaming silver underlies a touch of golden-red toning. Die polish at the Mint created a meticulous nose and disappearing upper lip on Liberty. 2608 1888 Choice Brilliant Proof CH BR PF $225.00 Delicate red-gold adds to this coin's silvery brilliance. There is a trace of surface residue which fortunately does not mar the fields. 2609 1892 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $375.00 This coin's wholly exquisite mirror-silver fields and totally detailed frosty devices offer visual quality that would be vastly difficult to duplicate or improve. 2610 1893 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $650.00 Watery-mirrored fields and sharp design features are immersed in a rich shade of golden toning on either side. There were a total of 2,195 Proofs minted of this issue. 2611 1897 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $950.00 - on the cusp of fully Superb. Glorious cartwheel flash given subtle color by the most delicate blue on the devices, pale gold gathering at the borders. PCGS PR66. 2612 1897 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $550.00 Light golden toning over well mirrored surfaces. The strike is excellent, lending further appeal to this lovely coin. 2613 1900 Very Choice Brilliant Proof VERY CH BR PF $550.00 - close to Gem. Bright silver reflectivity harmonizes with the lightest hint of gold in the smooth fields and on the meticulous devices for overwhelming beauty. 2614 1903 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $400.00 The clearest whisper of rose-gold gives subtle color to this flashing silvery Gem, an outstanding early 20th century example of Liberty Proof coinage. 2615 1909 Gem Brilliant Proof GEM BR PF $650.00 - on the cusp of Superb with uncompromising silvery gleam and a whisper of the clearest gold saturating both sides. Gem Matte Proof GEM MTE PF $2,600.00 Immaculate fields show the delightful textured surfaces characteristic of the first date, both fields and diamond-sharp devices show a whisper of clear tawny red-gold to assure maximum eye appeal. One of 1,520 Proofs struck; PCGS has certified only 95 at this lofty grade. PCGS PR65. 2617 1913 Type I. Very Choice Matte Proof VERY CH MTE PF $700.00 A breath of light red-gold provides subtle color to this softly gleaming example, which boasts especially bold inner rims and a reverse strike with altogether unusually full detail. 2618 1913 Type II. Gem Matte Proof GEM MTE PF $1,700.00 Glass-reflective fields and precisely detailed reliefs are laved in intense red-gold for overwhelming beauty. One of 1,514 Type II Proofs struck, PCGS has grade far fewer Type II Proofs than Type I, certifying only 85 Type II coins in this desirable Gem grade. PCGS PR65. 2619 1913 Type II. Matte Proof MTE PF $600.00 - or a trifle better. Deeply gleaming red-gold is more forceful on the obverse, a silvery buffalo stands boldly forth from a colorfully toned field. ANACS Cache PF61. 2620 1914 Gem Matte Proof GEM MTE PF $1,800.00 - on the cusp of fully Superb. Rich orange-gold and rose give added vitality to a microscopically exacting strike. Distinctly shimmery surfaces add another dimension to this coin's visual appeal. Of a total of just 1275 Proofs struck of this date, NGC has certified only 71 at this rarefied condition level. NGC PF66. 2621 1914 Gem Matte Proof GEM MTE PF $1,400.00 Lightest russet-gold joins a touch of pale violet on deeply reflective fields and devices of fascinating quality and almost startling beauty. One of 1,275 Proofs struck and a splendid choice for any high quality Type of date collection. NGC PF65. 2622 1915 Gem Matte Proof GEM MTE PF $1,300.00 Boldly reflective, flawless fields and devices radiate an understated pink-gold of the greatest delicacy. Collector response to the new Matte style was initially unenthusiastic and by 1915 the Proof mintage shrank to only 1,050, of which the present coin is one of the finest survivors. NGC PF65. 2623 1916 Gem Matte Proof GEM MTE PF $3,000.00 - nearly in the Superb category. A jewel-fine strike is highlighted by delicate gold that transmuted to flaming orange in two areas near the sharp rims. This Proof issue of 600 was to be the last until the return of publicly sold Proofs 20 years later. Here is an exceptionally high quality example that will repay the closest examination. PCGS PR66. 2624 1916 Very Choice Matte Proof VERY CH MTE PF $1,900.00 Essentially Gem, this coin displays blazing tawny red-gold over its satin-smooth surfaces, including mirror-like fields and intricately detailed devices that testify to its jewel sharp strike. NGC PF64. 2625 1917'D' Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $1,000.00 Frosty mint bloom engulfs the surfaces of this attractive bright golden gray coin. A lovely example that is difficult to find in such high grades. 2626 1918/7'D' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $28,000.00 - and nearly Choice. This pale steel-gray example boasts a satisfying wealth of appealing lustre. This specimen would certainly receive a higher grade if its strike were just a trifle sharper. This is a coin offering maximum visual quality for an historic overdate that is quite scarce in all grades, and outstandingly so in full Mint State. PCGS MS62. 2627 1918/17'D' G $350.00 Good. Some surface granularity and an unnatural sheen due to a previous cleaning. The date is barely visible with the top of the 7 seen with strong magnification. Scarce.
