This outstandingly handsome, solidly lustrous New Orleans coin is one of only 8,350 struck and ranks among the desirable Branch Mint coins of this era that are eagerly sought by collectors. This grade places the coin in the middle rank among the 25 examples listed in the 10-year Dannreuther-Garrett record. 1825 1882, 1902 CH AU $450.00 Choice About Uncirculated. Just a touch of cabinet friction is all that separates from this lustrous pairing from Mint State designations. 2 pieces. 1826 1882'CC' AU $3,800.00 About Uncirculated. A pleasing yellow-gold coin displaying evidence of mild circulation. Rich lustre clings to the devices, giving the impression of a higher grade. This rich amber-gold coin is quite flashy. This example was struck early in the life of the dies, as evidenced by the mirror-like reflectivity of the protected lustre. Although this coin did circulate for a brief period, it still maintains a somewhat prooflike appearance. Magnificent deep glass-mirror fields contrast dramatically with brighter frosty yellow stars, letters and devices. This glittering near-Gem displays a jewel-sharp strike with a faint trace of copper-red among the denticles.
